If an "imperfect" or "sinful" human watched a child being murdered, raped, dying in agony etc. while having the power to stop it that instant but choosing instead not to would be considered a monster by any rational person. But I guess such a person just has an incomprehensible plan that works in mysterious ways that the rest of us can't understand.
Comparing God to humans is not how things work. The same principles that apply to us do not apply to Him or His will/reasoning.
He made us in His image. Think of us as a painting. A painting does not capture the wholeness of the subject it portrays, just what the eye can see.
That is all we are capable of as humans. This is where faith comes into play. You either have it or you don't. Those that have it can lose it, and even the most opposed can obtain it. The only common denominator: nobody can accurately explain His reasoning or will. It is His, and His alone.
This is something that is too big for a lot of people to handle.

Exactly. Which is why letting the kid get shot was a dick move. You say we aren't his puppets, but if you admit that he intervenes sometimes...then we are his puppets.

Great story and I hope he makes a full recovery.
I'm glad you said this the way you did, because I was a little bothered (not really bothered but for lack of a better term) last night when reading comments on a friend of mine's Facebook post. She found out she was officially in remission from stage 4 ovarian cancer after a few surgeries and a year of intense chemo. Every single response was "praise God!" or "all the thanks to God." I believe in God and in prayer, but not one person seemed to acknowledge the extremely hard work and dedication of the medical staff that helped my friend get well.
Any how, long story short, I'm glad your credit was spread accordingly.

Letting a kid pass on to eternity in heaven is a "dick" move? Why?

but if you admit that he intervenes sometimes...then we are his puppets.
lol, what kind of reasoning is that? We have free will, separate from his intervening. We are our own puppets.

I try to spread the love. In my opinion, those that practice in medicine generally have a calling to help people. Some of them don't, but I would venture to say that the vast majority aren't in it for the money. Those that are in it because they have a passion for others are a true blessing, and I don't think modern medicine would have made it this far without the individuals who hold that passion.
I am glad to hear about your friend! That is huge news! Glory to God, and may He bless the medical staff that treated her as well!

The world is a big place, with a staggering number of events happening every moment. It's no mystery that improbable things occur, but this doesn't even really qualify. People recover to varying degrees from brain injuries, and this is just one data point on that continuum.
Here's my idea of a miracle. Find me a person whose brain was smushed into goo in an accident who is now walking around with a reconstituted brain. I'd accept that (after convincing myself it wasn't some meddling aliens with advanced technology indistinguishable from magic). But miracles are never like that, are they?

Choctaw said the kid had to get shot in the first place Bc God is not a puppeteer who intervenes. But then he admits that God sometimes does intervene, which then makes him a puppeteer. You can't have it both ways. Either God lets bad things happen Bc that's his MO, or he intervenes when he wants which means we don't have free will and it also means God picks and chooses which kids suffer horrible cancer deaths.

I just wanted to say to everyone that frequents this board that miracles are real, they do happen, and there is no timetable for them to occur. They occur in the most unexpected of places, and it is by the glory of God and the principles of modern medicine that this hero of a young man has recovered to this level!
So a young man was shot in the head during a petty robbery, and we are invoking...the glory of god?

Spoken like someone who's never had to deal with something like this. If God wanted a kid in heaven, he could easily do what he did for Elijah and simply take him up there rather than subject the child to slow suffering.

It's called free will. Free will is a gift from God. Some people choose to do good with it and some choose to be evil
So what about natural disasters and disease? Free will again? Or mysterious ways?

I don't define defending your loved ones as "selfless".
He fought for what was his, took a bullet, and appears to be pulling through.

God can't interfere with the free will of a cancer cell you know.

My take which anit crap. I'm older then most here by 90%. By far not a hoy roller. I know that god looks at us. Seen I first hand, praying for help in a time of need.
For those that throw off the Almighty, one day you will call out for his help I the worst pain.
God speed young man.
