It's neither. Life is just a crap shoot and on some days you roll snake eyes, some days you roll midnight. Just chance.

The will of the human body to remain alive and function to capacity is amazing.

None of it makes sense

Maybe it's because in the grand scheme of things, this world is not the end all. But rather, a passing through to something must greater, and eternal.

Maybe there's a creator, higher than us, that chose to create humans to love and worship him. However, he didn't want them programmed to do so, because, well, would that really be love?

So maybe he created them with a free will. They'd have to choose to love him. The thing is, that free will would apply to everything in this life, not just loving him.

Maybe in this free will, humans sometimes choose evil. In doing so, they suffer the consequences of that evil in this world. That includes innocent people perishing from this life. But passing on to something much greater than this world, for eternity.

Maybe, in order to sometimes demonstrate his love, he allows the tragedy to occur. Sometimes to perform miracles, to open the eyes of some in this world that would believe, so that they might choose eternity with him.

Just spit balling here.

So then you're saying he didn't do anything to help this boy. Which I agree with.

It's called free will. Free will is a gift from God. Some people choose to do good with it and some choose to be evil.

Happy for the boy, even though your silly OP unintentionally discredits the hard work and progress of modern health professionals.

If an "imperfect" or "sinful" human watched a child being murdered, raped, dying in agony etc. while having the power to stop it that instant but choosing instead not to would be considered a monster by any rational person. But I guess such a person just has an incomprehensible plan that works in mysterious ways that the rest of us can't understand.

quote:

"God" either wants to eliminate bad things and cannot,
or can but does not want to,
or neither wishes to nor can,
or both wants to and can.
If he wants to and cannot, then he is weak and this does not apply to god.
If he can but does not want to, then he is spiteful which is equally foreign to god?'s nature.
If he neither wants to nor can, he is both weak and spiteful, and so not a god.
If he wants to and can, which is the only thing fitting for a god, where then do bad things come from? Or why does he not eliminate them?
