And one sign of a lack of intelligence is taking out student loans to become a fricking teacher.

So I think the irony of this topic is that millenials are now trending towards buying homes, and they have are extremely overvalued in most areas. Millenials weren't buying homes before because they were scared from watching older people lose everything in the last recession (when housing prices were more favorable to buying).

If he took out 10 grand it's no big deal.

If it takes you three years of living like shite to pay off ten grand... you messed up somewhere

Yep. Right now is a pretty awful time to be a house. I'm sure a lot of the older generation would like Millennials to buy their house right now because it is insanely overvalued and they need to bolster their terrible retirement savings.

For a professional that pays an average starting salary of $36k?

Living like a pauper in some of the best years of your life to pay off 10-20k is retarded.

In general that's the way it works unfortunately. Most people don't make much money when they are just getting started in their careers. It probably took me a decent 8-9 years to start making a comfortable salary.

You know I'm right so you make up lies. Sad!

Yep, and we're getting to the heart of why these people complain all the time.

It shouldn't be hard at all to pay off 10k on a 50k salary

Paying back cheap money faster than you have to in and of itself isn't very smart.

These people lived like plebs in their twenties and are mad that not everyone else had to do the same.

quote:It's absolutely absurd to pretend that the housing conditions which so benefited past generations are still in place at present. The typical (white) blue-collar worker in 1965 could basically easily afford to buy a home (with a government-guaranteed mortgage) that wasn't very far from his place of low-skill employment. Good luck on that today.
Oh I bet the could afford a home. Just not the home they want. All part of growing up.

Most millennials I know personally are far more self reliant and responsible than "TD millennials".
