I just got approved for double of what my parents house is worth. I am my only income. No wife, kids, etc.

I can’t afford to buy a house where I live. Ffs.

Can’t wait to move in a year or so and I can buy a house elsewhere.

Nah, there are jobs everywhere.

Simply untrue particularly for those who have a specialized field they’re trained in.

Now if you’re saying we could all decide to take a complete career 180, and like learn welding or some shite, sure.

But that’s a ridiculous notion for the vast majority of working adults.

And let me be clear- I am a fortunate millennial who found a rewarding career path. But I know a lot of people my age who despite supposedly doing all the right things, can’t seem to get ahead.

It’s a myth that Gen-X and Millennials aren’t running the government. It’s already being turned over and it’ll be complete by the end of the decade. Go look at labor force data. You’re talking about people who are 24+. We’re about to get flexed in so hard by vengeful people if this attitude is more than just online faux rage (it isn’t). Could manifest though.

In millennials, we have a generation living the highest standard in the world amongst their peers. There are few close comparisons. Yet millennials are being told they are somehow getting ripped off.

The message?
... HEY! WAKE UP!
You millennials need to undercut the system!

You millennials need to undercut the same system which would otherwise leave you as a group far better off than any other humans on Earth.

look at this retard.

Yeah I work in IT and made more than $15/hr right out of college 20+ years ago in Baton Rouge.

I'm basically just the House Bunny to a team of developers and it pays a pretty large salary. It's well over $15/hour for sure.

1. Wages not keeping up with inflation is a real problem. There is nothing we can really do about this.

this is the biggest single problem in my profession. 25 years ago a certified individual in my specialty expected starting 110k. today, expected starting salary for boarded certified individual is....110k....huh?

i suspect many work forces are experience similar effects, probably not as bad but still.

I could pile on all day. But half of the millennials I know want the same lifestyle NOW that their parents worked for decades. Truth is, they want more.

Which is what exactly?

I guess you took no trips and told your friends tough shite when invited on bachelor parties?

Just like everything else not, bachelor parties are over the top. 40 years ago, it was a single night out bar hopping and quite often, the actual night before the wedding after the rehearsal. It was absolutely NEVER a weekend, a trip, anything that cost more than a handful of drinks or a few cases of beer.

Now, the brides all want their whole entourage to go to Nashville and stay 3 nights and the grooms go to Mexico or Vegas for several nights.

And a lot of it is because "everybody does it" and it's all over FB and IG.

So we didn't say no, but we didn't spend much money.

My take on boomers is that they’re sad, depressed they’re about to pass away and it comforts their ego to say millennials are soft. Just like every other generation said about their youngins. Have fun being old. Tick, tick

I'm 32 and as a financial planner and advisor, millennials that I deal with are mostly clueless how money works. Some are just plain ignorant, but most of them just literally haven't been taught ANYTHING. It's absurd and sad.

The worse part is the boomers (their parents) are sometimes even worse. I guess that's why I'm employed.

The generation that will be inheriting all the boomer wealth is absolutely not prepared to handle it.

Boomers are the best but you cannot eat them too regularly cause you will build up a tolerance.
