Blandest crab cakes I've ever had.

By geography yes, but by culture it is different. You get on the west side of the Alleghenies into Western/SW Pennsylvania you have more of a Midwestern/Appalachian culture. My family is from there, so I know.
Pittsburgh is the biggest city and capital of Appalachia you know.... It is both a Midwestern/Appalachian City by both people and culture.

Clearly.
And, as with most areas, it just depends on the area. When the wife and I went to NY a few years back, we spent a lot of time in Long Island and it was pretty chill. People were also generally nice and liked the slight drawl I have.
A bit different when we crossed the bridge.
Just like my family in RI and the areas nearby. Just lots of differences in all the different areas.

Well, the designation "Mid-Atlantic" is a geographical designation.
Louisiana is different culturally than Alabama, but they're both Southeastern states.

The wife and I spent our vacation in '19 in S.Central NY State(Jefferson, Oneonta, Cooperstown), and the people up there were very nice and welcoming. But that is also Appalachia so that is par for the course for how Appalachian people are.
Upstate NY State is absolutely gorgeous.

I call the NOVA, MD, DC, area the unholy combination of southern efficiency and northern charm.

You're not getting it or you're just being dense.
I think it's the latter.

That's pretty much how JFK described DC.
But make no mistake, DC is a southern city. It has magnolias. You can't grow those in a NE/Midwestern climate.

If you can’t find good food in that area you aren’t looking. Great German, Italian, country and soul food to be had all over in addition to middle eastern and Asian.

You're the one being dense. You're posting in a thread entitled "Mid-Atlantic states", and you responded to a poster asking if NJ was a mid-Atlantic state by stating that "NJ is definitely NE". I corrected you by stating that NJ is a Mid-Atlantic state (an indisputable fact) that is in the NE.
I'm not speaking about cultural differences either intrastate or interstate. Even Louisiana has cultural differences intrastate.

I don’t mind PA outside of that festering shithole Philadelphia. It’s similar geographically to Tennessee and the folks in the countryside are mostly good people. A lot of railroad history there as well for the train buff like me.

You’ve obviously never had a cheesesteak or Pennsylvania Dutch cooking.

I’d move there in a heartbeat if the taxes weren’t so high and the state wasn’t so blue.

Still better states to live in than Louisiana by a mile.

It may be in the middle of the entire Atlantic but it’s not in the middle of americas Atlantic coast, and that’s the only geography that matters.

That entire area of NY(sans Albany) is blood red.

Not really outside of Hampton Roads and D.C. area, especially considering the population density. Athletes are literally better in every state to the south through Texas

I tend to agree but what is your option?

PA anywhere west of Philly is good folk, I’ve spent a lot of time there for work. Blue collar towns that are dying due to steel industry falling back but overall they are good conservative people.
frick Philly though
Philthydelphia is a cesspool.
The "T" is awesome.
