They gonna kill the tourism.

That’s why America will win out on this.

You don’t want Americans there, ok=tourism goes down

Why would they impose a fee on someone that is paying to come spend money in their country. How does this make sense?

Arrogant, sub 70 IQ, third world people logic.

I can only speak for me, but yes, like everything else, cruises have increased in prices a lot on the last 4 years, so taxes at stops will cause people to stop cruising where that exists.

Its true. There is indeed a lot of ignorance in this thread. Mostly from people who think Mexico is safe:

Literally the first result in a Google search inquiry: is Mexico safe?

quote:

Crime: Crime, including violent crime, can occur anywhere in Mexico, including in popular tourist destinations. Travelers should maintain a high level of situational awareness, avoid areas where illicit activities occur, and promptly depart from potentially dangerous situations.

People aren't going pay more to go on a cruise that stops in Cozumel

I’ve never been on a cruise but
aren’t these the only stops for cruises that leave from the gulf (Galveston, New Orleans). I would expect the cruise ships to eat some of the cost and pass along some to the customers. They aren’t going to completely close those routes

It would be racist for a white country to do this

Hit Mexico with a fee per ship that docks 10x that. They’ll change their tune. Mexico needs that American cheese.

An additional $42, passed on to the consumer, will change nothing. People will still go on cruises that stop in Mexico.

Meanwhile the US pays Mexicans $4,200 a month to come to the USA.

Funny, Ive been to Cozumel, Cabo, CDMX, and been fine. Felt safer in CDMX than many American cities.

I really have no clue. Will someone planning a cruise for two look at the final price and think "this is $84 more than I was expecting. I am out".

I think what's likely is that people see cruises to Mexico consistently being a bit more expensive than the Caribbean etc. And adjust their destinations somewhat, but not significantly

Never saw the draw to Mexico. Plenty of destinations that are nicer and safer. I guess it’s cheap, kind of like carnival cruises and it’s clientele.
