I’m no Naval expert but a sailboat… in your Navy?
Is this just some sort of marketing vessel for them?

We have them

First of all, the fact that this is a legitimate Mexican navy vessel is laughable.
It’s a training ship based off a 1930s German training ship, Gorch Fock.
Several countries have vessels designed or sister ships to the original including Portugal, Romania, and gasp the United States.

Obviously, it became unmoored. The vessel was drifting stern first and not under sail. No bueno.

We have only one as far as I can tell. The USS Constitution but it only sails for "anniversaries, special events, and educational purposes".

I don’t always drink beer, but when I do, I crash my sailboat into bridges.

Pisses me off these fricking retards.

It's a training ship on a goodwill tour. The Mexicans say it was doing some sort of maneuver...maybe it lost power and crashed into the bridge before they could get it stopped. Or else it lost it's mooring. Several people were injured.

Is that thing going backwards?

USCG Eagle training ship
And even though it's a coast guard vessel US Navy personnel train on it as well.

A long time ago, when I took celestial navigation, one of the first things you learn is how to read tide charts. One reason you do that so your ship can calculate if you can fit under bridges at any given tide state.
I remember having to calculate if the USS Enterprise could fit under the golden gate bridge on a certain time/date....

Not true. The coast guard has a sail boat they use for cadets’ training. Pretty sure it sails across the Atlantic every summer.
I’d be shocked if the navy didn’t have a similar ship

How does this even happen?
How do they not gather mast heights to overhead bridges well before entering that space?
Did the boat lose power or have some failure?
Seems very odd to make such an avoidable mistake

What do you think they were doing here? Trying to invade NYC? I swear this board is full of literally retarded individuals.
