I hope those 500 permanent jobs don’t require computer skills. I’m from nela, and there aren’t 500 people there that know how to turn on a calculator, much less a computer. Who are you going to attract to a place where the selling point is “Monroe is only 30 mins away”. Monroe is dying as well and will go the way of Memphis and Jackson before long. Said it before and I’ll say it again, we should have picked our own damn cotton.

Your bitching is incoherent, but I don’t think that is going to be a Meta data center
You don't think? Wtf do you know about anything?
It's Meta. That's not in question They own the whole 500 acres right there, and have already started the dirt work on it. It's literally the same campus.
This next one is going to be a next Gen AI data center. Much more complex than the one they just built. Raised floors like a chip Feb (this will be for cooling in this case. Those servers/chips run pretty hot).

What does Facebook need such a big data center for?

Instagram is indeed popular, but Facebook is dying a very slow death.
Lol, only in your twisted world does year to year growth equal death
I guess that's like the idiots that think Disney is dying, you know, 'go woke go broke ', despite them just announcing stupendous profits over the last year.
There's reality, and then there's the cognitive dissonance so many here are trapped in.

Why be on a Louisiana themed website and talk shite about the state
Because so many of you ignorant mofos don't have a clue about the real world. Y'all call everywhere else 'shitholes', said 'shitholes' being better in just about every metric than Louisiana.
Louisiana is garbage, bottom to top. The last and least of everything, yet the people here have not the first clue why. They blame everyone and everything except the real reason, their own ignorant hateful selves.
Every time I come back it's just staggering how much everything here sucks compared to, well, anywhere else in the US. And Buddy, that's not going to change any time soon.
Stay on the plantation. That's right where they want you.

They better send some money to the NIL collective

I wonder where they're going to house those 5000 or at construction workers in Richland Parish.
Every travel trailer park will be full, there's not enough hotels, there's not enough people in the area to rent rooms out on Craigslist.
So any rental will cost a ton, when taking up even more of the lousy wages.
I'm just stating facts
I just don't see the draw
This project has already been being talked about in all the various pages online that deal with upcoming work, and nobody, and I mean NOBODY, can figure out how they will man it.
The vast majority of the work is electricians, and there's already more work than journeymen in other parts of the country. It's a walk through in places paying double the wages there in 446. Hell, there's a decade of work in Kansas City, Columbus OH, upstate NY, Racine Wisconsin, etc, etc.
446 already has more work then they can handle. They're begging people to come there now. The BA and organizer are sweating already.
The only bright spot for them is the IO has decreed that anyone with 12,000 hours of on the job work history doing electric work, they have to be given a yellow ticket. No more skills test. No code test. Nada.
That's how crazy the need for warm bodies is right now

Yep, you're angry. It's amusing and seemingly out of nowhere.

Nope, nope, nope. You are wrong there. I know exactly why, as I’m sure most people do. They may not say it out loud, but they know.

Amen. Ive never seen another state hate on itself the way Louisiana people hate on it but then these same people will turn around and talk about Louisiana in a good light such as food and culture.
Louisiana might not be a perfect utopia but it’s damn sure got some things going for it that other “bottom feeder” states don’t have. If Louisiana sucks so bad then why does every border state and others nearby try so hard to mimick Louisiana food, culture and architecture?

Because our best and brightest miss home and want to change their new home to look like their old home.

He is upset because he moved to Illinois for the electrician data center work.
Now that a data center is proposed for Louisiana, closer to his home, he is now upset
My theory

How much of this will be siphoned off by various fact-finding committees?
Maybe these large powerful corporations are thinking they have more power than the pitiful Louisiana state gov't and can come in and do what they want and not pay the corrupt politicians. And I say this as a good thing for the people of Louisiana.

It’s being developed by Karis Capital which is local PE and being constructed by Mortensen with the data company yet to be announced. If it were an expansion of the meta facility I don’t know why they wouldn’t say that.
