Alcohol works best. Just after shaving. It burns but will prevent razor burns I promise. The alcohol in cologne works as well if you wanna Advils the smell of alcohol

Get something w/o alcohol in it for aftershave moisturizer. They have some stuff that my wife buys me at BED BATH BEYOND. Takes just a small dab. Works great. Bbw

Was telling a buddy of mine I hated shaving because of razor burn. He educated me on old school double edge safety razor shaving.

Best thing that ever happened to my face.

Merkur 34C

Plus, the blades are literally pennies per blade. The blades on Mach 8000’s are several dollars a piece.

I have a beard now, but a Merkur + Tendskin was my holy grail for finally not getting any annoying razor burn, anywhere.

I think in hindsight it was 95% the tendskin, but a safety razor is also just a much better shaving experience and saves you a ton of money too. A few packs of feather blades for 15-20 bucks that will last 6-12 months and a Merkur that will last you a lifetime vs ridiculously overpriced 5 blade razors and plastic handles

1) Wash your face with soap, rinse with hottest water you can stand
2) Rub in shaving cream vigorously, rinse off with hottest water you can stand
3) Reapply thin film of shaving cream to face
4) Shave with the grain with a fresh blade with razor of your choice.
5) Rinse, dry and apply your favorite after shave

You're welcome.

I started out on an electric razor and could never find one that didn’t give me terrible razor burn. The trouble with electric razors is that you have to go over a patch of skin several times to get a decent shave and that causes razor burn.

The key to avoiding razor burn is to get a decent quality safety razor and go over all skin only once. Then splash your face with some cool water, and nothing else.

If you have any sort of thick beard it will require multiple passes at different angles to get a truly smooth shave.

I can get away with two passes: across and against the grain, and while better than a Mach, I’d still get razor burn a bit.

No balm, moisturizer, or aftershave could reliably fix it, but tendskin did.

Everyone’s skin can react differently to things, but everyone that I’ve known that had worse issues than me that tried it were all converts.

At some point in my 30's I stopped getting razor burn. I'm 40 now and I don't even use shaving cream/gel/anything. I go against the grain with the cheapest razors I can find and I have no issues

Shave in the shower after shampooing and washing. Get your hair nice and soft.
