Men, what’s your answer to getting rid of razor burn?

I have never really dealt with it on my face before, but after using some different newer aftershaves lately, something has caused razor burns in spots and I’m pretty sure it’s the cooling ingredients in a couple of the aftershaves I’ve purchased.

I’ve wet shaved all my life without this, but recently switched to an electric razor to let it heal. Any topical stuff you recommend to work on getting rid of this? Moisturizing balms, or treatments that you’ve found that work better than others, etc.

Thanks

Yeah, I’ll do that in November to prep up for playing Santa Mr. Man

Maybe stop using aftershave since it seems that is what is causing it.

Exfoliate before you shave
Even if it’s just scrubbing your face with soap & a wash rag

I always shave after the shower. If I shave any other time I tend to get razor burn unless the razor is brand new. My recommendation is to not use razors too long and also shave after shower, not before.

Get a sharper blade

Try witch hazel for after shave.

I never got it particularly bad, but not at all after I started shaving in the shower.

Correct answer on the first reply. No need for more answers.

ETA: Witch Hazel....if you insist on shaving.

Go back to doing what you were before the razor burn?

This. I haven’t used a razor in 20 years.

When I was clean shaven, I would shave in the shower, which helped a lot. Get the razor nice and hot, get your face nice and lathered up. Always stay on top of having a sharp bladeset on your razor.

Go back to wet shaving. Electric razors will destroy your skin. Used to use an electric and had razor burn and ingrown hairs. All stopped soon as I switched to wet shaving. Never looked back.
