Sad thing #2 - this guy’s family is about to get paid because he was a jerk off that couldn’t follow basic commands
Have you ever considered that there is a large portion of the country that has an extremely low IQ and awful social skills (aka borderline mental retardation) and learning disabilities.
Ripping someone like that out of a car can put them in a state of fight or flight.
The cops are pathetic for not being able to control him. They are criminals for beating him after he is cuffed.
Maybe you should consider that not everyone has the same IQ as you and that’s not necessarily a crime. This kid wasn’t a criminal and wasn’t committing a crime. This is different than a lot of other cases.

But he didn't. He said there aren't a lot of deaths relative to police interactions so cops aren't thugs. Deaths aren't the only standard bearer for thuggish behavior. Simply saying "cops aren't thugs because not a lot of people die" doesn't mean that cops aren't thugs because they rape, rob, steal, plant drugs, falsify reports, and cover for one anothers frick ups because MUH THIN BLUE LINE.
How's those boots taste?

Any riots or anything interesting happening?

It's going to be really interesting seeing what the connection is. This is almost impossibly overkill to be random.

nobody is really trying to subdue him to cuff him, shouting give me your hands while you beat on him seems like a cover for the real intent
There was one point on one of the body cams where one cop was kneeling on his right wrist and another cop had Nichols' left arm behind Nichols' back and was yelling at him to give him his other hand.

The cops were black
The kid didn’t have a criminal record
This is the total opposite of the type of cases they like to riot over.

sadly we almost need a class taught in schools on how to handle yourselves around law enforcement
so many people don't understand the fact that detained does not equal arrested

You implying this was personal between Nichols and a cop?

This really isn't the incident to make that suggestion.

There’s rumor floating that Nichols was involved with one of the detainers wife

the stop was bad, rolling up on him and just opening his door was bad, almost like the cop knew who he was and didnt fear him having a gun
dragging him out was bad, their technique was bad and letting him up and get away was unbelievable
everything that happened after that was criminal and looks personal
they cuffed him, stood him up and beat on his face
I have watched hundreds of youtube videos on traffic stops and never seen anything like this, its like all of their procedures and techniques were thrown out and they just wanted to hurt this guy
The biggest way you know this stop was bullshite is the reason for it. They cite "reckless driving" as the reason for stopping him
Anyone who has lived in Memphis will tell you MPD does not give a shite about speeding or reckless driving. They do not care and will not pull you over for it. Hell they participate in the race around 240 themselves.
Asking them to care about how dangerous driving is in Memphis is one of the top complaints I hear thrown at MPD, well before this.

Wow that would be a hell of a plot twist
But honestly would make a lot of sense

I read most of this thread.
Quite a few douchebags in here which is sad but not surprising.
One thing I noticed is at one point there were 7 cops present while Tyre was getting worked.
Those 2 cops need to be fired for just watching. Backing your fellow shitty officers in uniform needs to get weeded out.
The white cop needs to be fired for saying he hopes they're stomping him out. We shouldn't have that kind of attitude on a police force.

I don't mean to belittle the situation, but that first video was nothing but hilarious to me. Heavy breathing, black cop almost puking, the eye cleansing. I wish that was the end of it because that was just delightful.
quote:Spraying themselves with pepper spray, losing his glasses. Then they hung out on a 5 lane highway like idiots. All this after the one cop, which one was it-pulled the kid out of his car.
I was laughing out loud. The first cop loses his glasses and is blind, the second cop sprays himself in the eyes with pepper spray. And they are both winded for a good 10 minutes. These guys were a fricking joke.
And I also enjoyed how all the black cops had dodge charger patrol cars.
Are we sure these guys were even cops?
Then they beat the crap out of him; and to make themselves look better---- lean him up the side of the car as he wobbles like a weeble wobbling and he does fall down.
Not one person checks to try any medic work or a first aide kit. They all stand around with by that point half down the road lined with police cars.
Did they call for an emergency? An ambo?
As if all of their actions weren't beyond sick and unprofessional beyond words. A few of them shouldn't be cops: heavy breathing and pepper spraying themselves, losing their glasses.
In the first tape the kid was not slurring words, nor did he seem high. Anyone would freak if someone ripped them out of their car.

Thank you. The entire thing looks staged to me. I'm not buying it. Way too much simply doesn't make sense. I hope I'm wrong but I'm skeptical.

yeah and its like they kept letting him squirrel away to keep beating on him
there was a point where three PD backed away and two were beating on him, not really trying to apprehend him
then two come back in and start beating on him, with one kicking him In the head
then number five comes in with the ASP and they hold him up so he can wail on his back
then they cuffed him stood him up and started punching his face with roundhouses
crazy

Why TF are you calling him a kid? He’s 29 years old, a grown arse man. He’s not a kid. Are you trying to illicit a specific emotional response calling a grown man a kid?

officers immediately treat non compliance and evasion as an admission of guilt and dramatically escalate the situation, and some people are capable of fighting and fighting and fighting through tasers and pepper spray. the officers will go through any means necessary to get compliance. if you were the officer and every tool on you to get compliance is exhausted what do you do?
Posted on 1/27/23 at 10:20 pm to VictoryHill
I know it's easy to say "don't resist," and I've seen plenty of examples where that the resistance was unreasonable (they escalated the situation), but in this case, if a bunch of dudes are calling me a mother fer and it's immediately escalated and I'm thrown me out of my car, I know the adrenaline will kick in and the fight, flight, (or freeze) response, and I would probably want to run away too.
And I've never been handcuffed either, but it seems to me in a high-stress, high-adrenaline situation like that, even if you want to comply, your body my not cooperate since it doesn't naturally want to be in that position. I've had times at the Dr. (looking down my throat, putting drops in my eyes) where I'm trying to do what I'm supposed, to but my body is not cooperating. And I wasn't really under any stress.
So I guess I just don't understand why they'll escalate the situation, ensuring that fight or flight response kicks in, and then just further escalate it when it does. I know it can kick in for them, but that seems more reason to not escalate it, especially since like in this case, there was 4-5 of them, each a solid 50-100 pounds heavier.
