Tupperware top fell to the bottom of the dishwasher and melted. Woke up at 2 and house smelled terrible. Two little kids in the house sleeping, do I need to do anything or are we all pretty much gonna die?

I don't know what you can do. There's no known cure.

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. Your death, while tragic, will save lives.

Get the big chunks off but don't try to scrape the heating element. That's how you frick up your dishwasher. Get as much off as you can, it'll be fine.

Macho Man,
It sounds like this is the excuse you've been looking for.

Pack your bags.
Forget about the wife, the kids, the house, the melted Tupperware top, the damned dishwasher, and all the other minutiae of your mundane life.
Leave it all behind.

You're free, bro!

If you use the drying feature on dishwasher, consider not using it. They are notorious for overheating. Just open and let it air dry. Won't burn your house down, but can cause multiple problems with dishwasher.
