She looks cute enough, let's roll with it.
Like she said, gonna be a good time.

I don’t have many close friends or family left, so I wouldn’t have to worry about any hounds. I’d pay off all debt, I’d move and build a compound out on some land near a city where my kids can still go to good schools. I’d make sure my wife’s parents get what they need. I’d finance a new natatorium for LSU
Otherwise, eventually I’d have a beach house in Florida, a ranch in Colorado or Montana. Access to a private plane, a yacht. I’d probably stop medicine and do something more enjoyable. Maybe even go back to school. I’d just do things that make me happy and content, stuff I’ve always dreamed of doing, live off the interest but still do odd jobs. I’d try to hike the Appalachian trail, travel to every continent. Just get off the grid and the daily grind

a lot more people find it worth the $2 to drop on a chance at a billion even if those chances are virtually non existent
I don't think it's this because most of those same people would find it worth $2 for a chance at $20MM. It's more of the rarity of the jackpots getting this high.

I’d use that money to gain power and fire those cops

Winning that amount of money sounds great, but it creates a ton of negative life factors.
I can't think of anything in my life that almost $750MM would make a negative other than my tax responsibilities.
My immediate family and a couple people that have been very helpful to me at very rough times in my life would be very, very happy for the rest of their lives. Not to mention a couple generations of my direct descendants would also be set up just about as well as possible
If anything, I'd love to try it out.

I bought a ticket. First one in years. If I win, I will be sure to have an attorney accept it. No way I'm putting my name out there.

see almost no way one person could piss away 750 million. But, I'm probably naive and there are literally thousands if not millions of people that most certainly will blow it all and be broke within a decade.
Usually it’s because they buy millions of dollars of land, homes, planes, yachts without ever thinking about the recurring costs to maintain and operate those things.
Great you bought a 30 million dollar yacht. Now pay for the fuel, maintenance and salaries of 8-10 person crew to operate it and keep it up.
The key is to sit down and determine how much of the money needs to be invested in safe investments to yield an annual return that funds the lifestyle you want so you don’t blow it all.
500 million at a 5% annual return yields 25 million a year. So take the remaining 250 million and figure out what assets you can buy that that 25 million will cover annual costs of, such as upkeep, property taxes, salaries, etc. Whatever is left out of that 250 you can invest to grow, piss away on fun, help out family/friends whatever.

don't think my family and friends realize how easily I could tell them to frick off like a regular bum at a gas station.
This. Though if I won a 1.3 billion lottery I would likely help out my closest family and the few friends who were always there for me. However it would be a one time gift. Don’t ask for more ever. And everyone else can frick off

For this size payout, take the annuity. Sure, you will have a lower investment return potential, but you can screw up for 10 years until you actually figure out how handle that much money and still have a lifetime of gigantic income ahead.
Take the lump sum and you may end up broke.

You could potentially sign the rights to future payments away (j g wentworth style)… still possible to duck it up.

Yeah the big problem here is if you tell the wrong person and not only could they try to get your money but anyone they tell could gossip and soon enough you’d have a frick ton of people you don’t even know coming after your money. That’s why if I’d win it I’d only tell my immediate family, closest friends, and of course the trustworthy folks of the OT

True, but the first year after taxes will be in excess of $10 million. Surely any O-T bum can piss away $10 mil. But the best part of the annuity at this size is that next year you get more than $10 mil, and the year after that, etc.
The annuity can act as a cap on craziness, and you can still keep rolling in it.

How many of those do you have on your contact list, who you know and trust very well, who routinely handle billion dollar personal accounts?
I know more financial advisors and good friends with a few. Attorneys not many. But I never thought to worry about them in any way...my worry would be safety of my ticket...losing it, house burn down etc.

I wouldn't really need investing advice bc I would be very conservative investing. If you invest 400 mil and make 5% you would earn 20 mil a yr

This. I would be thinking of some of the craziest, illogical, never-going-to-happen situations

Hell, it's not even just nefariousness that would worry me with a "lawyer and financial advisor" - although that would certainly be a big concern. It's just how few people I know with even perfect intentions who I think would be truly equipped to handle such sums in a way that wouldn't worry me to death.

exactly...also be worried I would get killed in a wreck on my way to lottery office

I'm 100% moving to a ranch in Montana if I win this kind of scratch.

I probably overthink things, but I’ve read some real horror stories from lottery winners. Winning that amount of money sounds great, but it creates a ton of negative life factors. When I think about those, my current life situation seems really good.
You know what they say, more money more problems. I for one, want those problems.
