I wish you could throw 150m at US T bonds immediately but apparently, they only allow you to buy 5m per auction.

Your goal with that kind of money is to maintain. Unfortunately, dumb people don't realize that.

I'll spend 50 million on hunting ranches and all my houses/toys and put 5 million aside, petty cash fund, and invest the rest.

Live off the interest.

I'd be different than most people and would take the annuity

Probably pay off my house and buy a few more in areas where I like to travel

Then it would be a lot of first class travel

I agree actually. I know technically it's not the mathematically sound move, but I think it would be so overwhelming to have all that cash thrown at you at once that it would be the much safer move.

Would be insanely stupid for most reasons. Not just stupid. Insanely stupid.

However, most people just wouldn't be able to handle that amount of money at once. If you're one of those people maybe its the right move.

Most people don't know if they're one of those people. That's why so many winners frick it up. They thought they were smart enough and had the self control to handle it.

If you walk with $400M and can't control yourself, you have HUGE issues. You should be able to put that into VERY safe and VERY conservative investments and make $10M a year perpetually without touching the principle.

You'd be surprised how few people understand basic principles.

And it's about 298 million after taxes if you give nothing to charity. State takes all of theirs up front (unless you file taxes as a single) while federal takes 25% of the 37% up front.

If your first thought after winning isn’t hiring an estate attorney, regular attorney, cpa firm and a wealth manager and hashing out a plan before you send a representative to collect the winnings, you will blow through that money

I would go down and get the biggest fanciest F250 on the lot and then finance it for 108 months.

Actually, frick that. That means your first annual payment would only be 13.5 million.

Might as well just drive around a Prius and eat hamburger helper for those rookie numbers

First thing i would buy is a burner cell phone and give the number to very few people. If you won that kind of money you would have people coming out of the woodwork calling you.
