Even Persia relied on outdated equipment (relative to the Greeks) and a highly sophisticated and robust logistics infrastructure.

But, many units of the so-called "Immortals" went into battle against nigh invulnerable Greek hoplites (who did not fight stripped to the waist, as the film 300 would have you believe - they wore a bronze breast plate and carried that huge aspis - a bronze clad, heavy oaken shield), with ceremonial armor and weapons. Like made out of wicker and balsa wood.

It's no wonder they got their asses killed by the bushel.

Our fighter pilots have not done any fighting. They’ve been flying racetracks over low to non existent threat environments providing CAS with all the life support and logistics that anyone can ask for.
