I think the newsworthiness is focused on the concept that Iran has advertised the ability to build all the parts for these planes in-house.
Consequently, they could help destabilize power in various regions when they start exporting them to dictators who still rely on Korean War era Migs.

No he tomcat shoot down was I. September of 87 eastern med blue on blue

Yes it was an F-18. I’m aware of it. Glad the good guys won. That doesn’t negate my point. Our guys don’t have nearly the experience they had back in the eighties. It’s not a knock on anyone. It’s not their fault the military has fricked up spending priorities.

I agree with that point......also I think in an all out brawl witha super power we would sorely miss a true naval interceptor like the tomcat - especially w aim 54
