Yup. Have the F-35’s penetrate the air space undetected and paint the targets for missile laden F-15’s outside the range of enemy defenses.
Seems to be the winning strategy for a potential fight with China/Russia. With F-35’s being so expensive and slow to come online.

F-15/16 are also straight out of the 70’s.
The basic airframe design is from the 70s, the F15E was developed and put into service in 1989, and was sold. to other countries. The F16s currently being produced are only being sold to other countries, the Air Force is no longer purchasing them. There have been multiple improvement programs since both of these planes were first introduced, in 2012 the Air Force spent almost 3 billion on a F16 update program. The exterior my look the same as those from the 70s, but that is where similarity ends.

It’s more than Russia or China have gotten. Point is that our pilots have been in a constant state of preparation. Flying racetracks or not.
Our potential enemies? Not so much.

Quality of training is what I am saying.
We have better equipment and more experience trainers.
