So, fair to say the medical industry is underwhelmed by COVID19?

Well, then, that was unexpected.

Guess they should have chosen a different industry

Need further context: is this comment a jab at those saying something similar about folks in O&G in other threads?

Who do you think whipped up the Karens in to a frenzy to force the government to issue such guidance?

Shutting down clinics was such an asinine thing to do.

Where did clinics get shut down? Mine is still operating, albeit at a much lower capacity.

Also the elective cases thing has been killing my partners but I think they made that ruling to preserve PPE. I wonder if it would be possible to look at regional PPE stocks and allow elective surgeries to resume based on those factors.

Yeah, only dentists had to close. For us, low volumes were initially because we had to call people and cancel. In the past few weeks it's just been people not wanting to come in.

In our facility PPE is not a concern, and covid numbers have continued to fall. We are hoping they open surgery back up and let us start seeing non emergent stuff in clinic come May 1st.

Should I make an appointment for my dad soon for his PCP? A tele med appointment isn't gonna work for my dad. I'm sure the PCP wants an accurate BP and to actually listen to my dad's heart/lungs as well as palpate for edema in his extremities. He is 71 and on a bunch of meds for HTN, thyroid issues, kidney issues, mental issues, etc, etc.

I always have to take him and go with him cause he quit driving completely (due to his mental health issues) and because he is a horrible historian and won't tell the doctors how he really feels at times. So one reason I cancelled was so he didn't have to get out when he doesn't need to and so he doesn't have to have contact with me right now (and me risk getting him sick).

His appt was supposed to be March 26

Can your dad go in and get his labs, otherwise I would say no.

Wife's practice was running at about 10-30% of normal patient-load the first 4 weeks of this mess. About 50% last week and currently have 70% scheduled for this week.

I’m going to assume based on your post history my assumption is correct.

look i don't want anyone to get laid off. that means it was out of their control. i would have fired anyone making tik tok videos though. there is always something to do in my line of work. if you have free time you should check your work again.

I keep going back and forth on it. I am being forced to take off 2 weeks of PTO in May. Was considering scheduling his appointment then.

I think I’ll just wait. Trying to remind myself it is only a routine visit and that he isn’t having any urgent issues at the moment.

This.

Thankfully Phase 1 includes re-opening outpatient elective surgeries.
