You see bud, that is where you are wrong. I have friends in Canada, England, and New Zealand. They HATE their ridiculous wait times. One had his father waiting for a hip replacement for over 4 years. He never got it. Instead, he flew to India and paid cash.

Socialized medicine is a hard pass for anyone with any semblance of common sense.

Respectfully, it seems you’re arguing for the status quo which is a proven failure. At least I’m offering an alternative which *could* be an improvement.

The status quo was presented and sold to the American people by the democrats. Until they admit that the bill was a fantasy designed to ensnare more people onto government subsidized care …. I don’t want to hear your answers on how to fix the problem you created..

Yes, Obamacare took a system with essentially static pricing, running like a top, and just fricked everything up. That’s exactly how it went.

Obamacare was modeled exactly on your 2012 GOP nominee for President’s plan he enacted when governor of Massachusetts. It was very successful.

Seems like normal people are going to feel the hurt here while Poli Board types rejoice.

Typical Trump and Republican acts led to cancelling the subsidies without actually making any valid changes to the affordable care act.

Typical cowards whine about it but make no changes and then blame it on the other guys. Great leadership.

I actually have offered up my preferred solution.

We need to go away from insurance/third party as the dominant form of health care payment.

Everyone should have catastrophic coverage (the govt can pay for low income folks to make sure they also have catastrophic coverage).

Everything else should be cash based. I would even support turning Medicaid into a cash payment system.

We also need to end the tax preference offered to employer provided health insurance. Insurance should not be offered by employers

You want to fix medicine?

Liberate it.

Government isn’t going to fix something it broke.

See, we can agree on some things! I 110% agree with you here. No person’s healthcare should be dependent upon their employer. It’s bullshite.

With price controls, as well as programs for those who simply can’t pay for necessary treatment? Another guy mentioned it here but going cash makes a lot of sense for a lot of people. I don’t wholly disagree with the premise but it’s risky on a national basis without serious regulation, imo. Greed is a mofo.

Lawyers, litigation, and many other things ruined healthcare way before the ACA, which is awful in its own right.

Lawyers are the biggest scourge on this Earth and ruin everything they touch.

Add in medicine, particularly being a physician becoming a massive money making job as opposed to an actual service one that it is meant to be and you get this mess.

Doctors don’t want to give up their cash cow positions so artificially keep their numbers down while simultaneously bitching about being overloaded. It’s all a scam and all are a part of it.

Users are also to blame for taking advantage of the system and refusing to pay their debts leading to inflated prices for actual people paying to cover them.

The whole thing is a mess and no one wants to actually do what is right to fix it. They are perfectly content with the garbage system enriching their donors and destroying the middle class to do it.

Don’t overlook that even the poor (in the aggregate) are greedy.

How many want more than what they are willing to pay for?

Greed is an undesirable characteristic of the human condition. It’s not limited to rich cocksuckers who got fricked over other people. This is not an indictment on innovators. They earned it.

These 'subsidies" were enacted as a response to covid. Covid is over. That being as it may, even without Covid and the subsidy, the price would still be what the exchange is seeing. Show you how much a F up this partisan legislation is. Much like every other govt run process.

Easy. The country is in nearly 40 trillion in debt and taxes would have to be increased for the program

That is absolutely correct. The issue is whether your taxes would increase by an amount larger than the amount you are presently paying to a for-profit insurance company.

That would certainly create pressure against the ballooning prices.

How about reinstating the charity hospital system that worked for several generations?
