What kind of engineering did you graduate in?

Probably inflated by all the big law firms there. I bet the average is way higher than the median with that factored in.

Dude needs to be making 7 figures 10 years out of school to not suck?

Millennials aren't willing to work from the bottom up, but they are making less than their parents when they were starting out. Seems like they are forced to be more willing to work their way up from the bottom. Like promotion opportunities even work like that anymore.
And really, it started even before millennials. A perfect example would be the difference between my generation (35) and my Dad's. Out of high school he was able to get on at the railroad, making good money without a degree, and in a job that he was able to stay in for 40+ years just as his Dad did.
His same job 15 years ago when a friend applied required multiple certifications and a degree or associates w/experience. And adjusted for inflation, making less than when my Dad started out.
We're pricing ourselves out of decent jobs with the expectation that most "good" jobs require some type of degree or years of working at below living wage positions to qualify.

One thing that's an eye opener for some is that you actually have to work pretty damn hard just to have an "average" life. Growing up, some people can coast and still stand out, but the number of adults who can do that are exponentially less.

Thanks for the link. So it includes kids working summer jobs in high school/college as long as they are 17 and employed.
I'm more curious about the age 24 thru 30 demographic.

And please let us know what you do, high and mighty baby boomer

That's got to be swayed heavily by unemployed people because I don't see how any self respecting person would work for those wages. McDonald's employees make more than that, no?

Woohoo above average

Based on his denial of well understood economic results from our generation I'm going with a manager at Wal-Marks

To me the most shocking this is how high D.C. is compared to the others.

You're from a small rural town and still in college huh?
God I hope your finance degree makes you rich because I fear you might end your life if you don't become some big city rich elite guy.

Back when I was a millennial we used to be happy to get that much. These kids don't try hard enough to get money.

Yikes. My wife is in nursing school and works about 30 hours a week. She makes significantly more than the LA median.

DC is 68 square miles. If you can afford to live there you either have a good job or have high status parents who hook you up with a good internship or job. I'm sure if you chose Manhattan below 110th street or a select 68 square miles in San Jose/SF/Etc, you would see a similar (and probably more impressive) disparity.
