I watched FOX news through the election and stayed away from CNN. Afterwards I quit watching news altogether, but my wife has become indoctrinated by CNN and watches it constantly.
Every story on CNN has something to do with Trump (all negative). I'm curious what they'll do when there is no more Trump to blame for what Biden will do to this country.
Where's Walter Cronkite when you need him?

Good point. I anticipate hey'll handle that like they did throughout the Obama terms when everything that was bad was the result of Bush and took a long time (2 terms for some problems ) for Obama to clean up. We're already starting to seem the same narrative w/ Biden and the Covid vaccination program. Unfortunately, the media will swallow the talking points hook, line and sinker in support of Biden and the Dems.

They have been gaslighting the public for decades, but it really ramped up the last 4 years. I suspect the # of people who trust the media are similar to the # of people that would stay in an abusive relationship for 4 years.

Wow. 27% of people think news is real?

That’s a lot of morons. Actually 20% are just democrats covering for their protection networks. 7% are regular morons.

In other words, "A little less than half of the population in this country is incredibly naive."

Only 56%? Americans are a dim lot. Both sides of the media, left and right, are bullshitters.

It's scary that they get to choose what the current "issue" is for the country, and people will blindly follow along with them

They did exactly this with the Joe Biden rape allegation.

quote:

“Lots of people covered it as breaking news at the time. And I just thought that nobody other than The Intercept was actually doing the reporting to help people figure out what to make of it...Look, I get the argument. Just do a short, straightforward news story. But I’m not sure that doing this sort of straightforward news story would have helped the reader understand. Have all the information he or she needs to think about what to make of this thing."

In comparison to the allegations against Kavanaugh:

quote:

Kavanaugh was already in a public forum in a large way. Kavanaugh’s status as a Supreme Court justice was in question because of a very serious allegation. And when I say in a public way, I don’t mean in the public way of Tara Reade’s. If you ask the average person in America, they didn’t know about the Tara Reade case. So I thought in that case, if The New York Times was going to introduce this to readers, we needed to introduce it with some reporting and perspective. Kavanaugh was in a very different situation. It was a live, ongoing story that had become the biggest political story in the country. It was just a different news judgment moment,” Baquet claims.

"We can't tell you what happened because no one else was talking about it."

"We had to tell you everything that happened because everyone else was talking about it."

"This thing you heard about was serious because you heard about it, this other thing you didn't hear about isn't serious because you didn't hear about it. If it was serious, then we would have reported it, but it wasn't serious, because no one else was reporting it."

Every news show is actually an editorial talk show. Morning Joe, Situation Room, Fox and Friends, the 5 Fox show...they don't report the news, they just give opinions.

I'm not aware of any straight up news report programming anymore. Even the nightly 30min network news shows are pushing it these days.

It is sad when I have to put on Al Jazeera to get straight up "who, what, when, where, and why" reports these days.

What gets me is they deliberately destroyed their own profession. They weren't forced like Pravda in cold war Russia, they willingly went from being journalists to being propaganda agents. You would think there would have been some pride for their profession but apparently not. It boggles the mind
