Why not just operate a drone man? No need for this.

Word is that one person on the ground was also killed

Sad for the news crew, but imagine waking up this morning thinking it was a normal day, then a helicopter crashes on your head and kills you

Hell of a way to go out

This was in a northern suburb of L.A. You would need a drone with a very long battery life and range to fly all over L.A. Metro

Another bush crash or the same one? The bus crash was the story the helicopter was covering

It’s getting weird. Swarm of drones went down on its way to the bus full of reporters.

Yes, based on the audio in the main crash video from the IntelPointAlert post and comments in the thread.In the video (the aerial feed that abruptly cuts out), a distinct warning tone/horn is audible in the moments leading up to the impact and blackout. A reply in the original thread specifically identifies it as the rotor stall warning (also commonly called the low-rotor-RPM warning horn).

@IntelPointAlert

What that signal typically means Helicopter systems (especially in common news/utility types like those operated by stations such as KNBC) include audio alerts for critically low main-rotor RPM. When rotor speed drops too far:The blades can enter a stalled condition (insufficient lift).

A continuous or pulsed horn/tone sounds in the cockpit (and can sometimes be picked up on the live feed or open mic).

This is a high-priority emergency warning—pilots are trained to immediately lower collective, increase RPM if possible, and prepare for autorotation or emergency landing.

This matches descriptions from past NTSB analyses of similar incidents, where a low-rotor horn is noted in audio just before loss of control. Other common helicopter alerts (engine failure, high RPM, etc.) have different tones, but the thread identification and timing align with the rotor-related warning.The exact aircraft type and final cause are still under investigation by the NTSB/FAA/LAPD as of the latest reports, so the warning is an observed audio cue rather than a confirmed root cause. The video itself does not include clear on-screen text or subtitles of the warning; the identification comes from the audible tone in the feed.
