Meatpackers say beef prices have spiked during the pandemic because plants are running at lower capacity as workers fall ill, so less meat is making its way to shelves. The four companies didn’t respond to requests for comment about the probes.

Absolute total bullshite. What the citizens of the United States need to understand is that most American businesses are designed to frick you over whenever possible. Once you accept this fact you can relax.

I raise cattle. They're are only 4 major packing companies left. 2 are foreign owned. They have bonded together to create a monopoly. We lose money the feed lots lose money and the packing houses are making a killing. I'm actually feeding out yearlings for slaughter. People are starting to buy from local farmers because it helps us and is cheaper for them.

Yet farmers are straight up giving potatoes away here in Washington, so I guess only the meat packing industry is being hit by the virus.

Actually the cattle ranchers have been dealing with this for 3 years. It's just the meat prices are sky high and we're getting less.

Obama removed the country of origin label and cows prices dropped big time. Opened up to getting animals from South America and as long as it's killed here it has a product of USA label. The quality is way below our standards.
