Man, that’s hard to watch. Stupid as shite, yes. But I can’t think of a worse way to die than burning to death.

That is certainly true.

Reading a story on it claiming so far, 21 dead, 71 with burns of various degree. That's a lot of people messing around the ignition zone. Incredible.

You know the ones right at the source are goners and from the daytime video it was a bunch of people hanging right there where the hole was. No way those people drenched in gas are alive. It would melt them right away. I assume most of the ones running on fire were back a little and the vapors got them.

The smell of burning hair and human flesh is something that never really leaves you. It’s awful, people charred and writhing.

It’s an awful death

Article at an NBC affiliate
quote:

The tragedy came just three weeks after new President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador launched an offensive against fuel theft gangs that have drilled dangerous, illegal taps into pipelines an astounding 12,581 times in the first 10 months of 2018, an average of about 42 per day.

quote:

In an early morning press conference Saturday, Lopez Obrador vowed to continue the fight against the $3 billion-per-year illegal fuel theft industry.

Are prices that high there (or shortages that bad)? Does Pemex not keep prices low or enough supply for its citizens?

Horrible and sad.

If our media gets a hold of this they would find a way to fault Trump.

Best thing would be to shuck your clothes off then roll around

You’ll get some burns but likely not severe. Cloth soaked with gas keeps burning while gas just on your skin surface would burn off pretty quickly.

I’ve been drunk and spilled Bacardi 151 on my arm and a cig ash caught it on fire. Didn’t even burn me I doused it after a few seconds

I can tell you with certainty, it's a hell of a lot better option than running through an open field fanning your arms.

maybe, but I have much less disdain for thieves that are stealing for basic necessity that I do those that steal in lieu of working...

Looks like maybe I ought to not complain so much about paying a couple of bucks per gallon.

That is a damn horrible, slow way to die....if you are lucky enough to actually die from it.
