There was a deadly shooting close to the Nordstrom Rack several years ago.

It was in the parking lot. Saying entrance makes it sound like it was right outside the door.

It was less than 300 yds from the front door at the entrance. Does that make a difference? Should that make us all feel better and safer about the MOL?

The mall was the place to go when I was in high school. You didn’t have fights or shootings. The worst thing we did was sneak outside of Dillards and smoke cigarettes. Then culture happened. I haven’t stepped foot in a mall in at least 5 years. It’s a shame that these people, yeah I said these people, can’t function in society.

Didn’t children of the 80s grow up in malls? Y’all didn’t complain then.

True, we did. However, we did not steal, fight, menace, mug, threaten, riot, flash mob loot, backtalk adults, purse snatch little old ladies, smack clerks for expecting us to pay, fight security because we sneaked into a R-rated flick, punch anyone for asking us to be quite in the theater, check door handles in the parking lot, etc. Basically, we went there to go to the game room, food court, watch movies, and hang out with girlfriends/try to meet new girls. Then when we got old enough to drive, stopped going to the mall nearly as much.

Had to come back and edit post. We also didn't carry guns, knives, etc., and it certainly didn't cross our minds to shoot anyone from a different neighborhood, jr. high, or little league team for smudging our Puma's, disrespecting, or representing.

Last time I was at the MoL, I passed a gentleman covered in tats (face included) with an assault rifle on his shirt, along with the words “I run this shite”.

What I’m saying is there are no issues.

We once got in trouble for stealing a bunch of hot sauce packets from Taco Bell and stomping on them, but aside from that incident, so many innocent days were wasted meeting ugly goth girls who would do things too mature for their age.

I blame Kevin Smith for all of this.

Looks like the mall enjoying the benefits of being in the City of BR.

Look at how fast the BR Kiddy police respond.

Oh wait they didn’t show us usual as they are probably not patrolling the mall.

Couldn't a detachment of State Troopers patrol the place instead of just writing speeding and illegal U Turn tickets all day?

I saw a Popeye's commercial last night that had nothing but white people working behind the counter.

The state of Louisiana shouldn't pay for the most well-compensated law enforcement officers in the state to patrol a city mall. They probably couldn't even get anyone to volunteer for the assignment.

It's the same argument with the Troopers being sent to New Orleans because NOPD was useless. Let the city die.

What are you trying to say here chris?

I am trying to say he said entrance, it was in the parking lot. The jackass who got shot posted on his social media where he was going and it was a retaliation shooting.

A shooting is a shooting and those folk are not the sharpest shooters so there will always be the risk of stray bullets, but if I was the mall PR I would spin it by saying "the shooting that took place was not targeting random people".

Retail shopping will have to evolve soon anyway, so if a mall closest down its just making the inevitable happen faster. And to be honest, I don't think its a bad thing.

I think we will start seeing retail being within something bigger. Its going to be built around entertainment of some sort. People seem to be losing interest in going all day shopping.. Going from store to store. You can either order online or do pickup and I am sure that hurts foot traffic in malls which then makes renting a store in the mall less appealing, etc..

Anyone remember when Tinseltown theatre opened off of Siegen? It seems like the MOL opened up around the same time. I was in HS and I remember Tinseltown being a big deal.

Dude, that’s a terrible reason to wait. Go now and save that tuition money.

Unless you absolutely have to move, you don't do that to a kid of that age who is halfway done with high school.

Well I’d rather mall patrol and preserving a otherwise cool place than ticket crickets.

This happens fricking everywhere. The Mall of Louisiana isn't that bad, jeezus. I go there occasionally with my nephew and it's got some foot traffic. The paintball shooting range thing is legit.

You’re right. He should’ve moved before the kid’s freshman year

Not sure when it opened but it was a nice place in the late 90s. Cortana was still fine then too.
