Does that mean this thread isn’t fanning the flames?

Travis McMichael guns down an unarmed black man and calls him the n-word as he's lying dead on the ground and you think the thing fanning the flames is THIS THREAD?

I'm shocked your IQ is high enough to figure out how to post on this site.

It’s an election year. The fans are being flamed whether your woke arse can see it or not. You probably forgot about the summer of 2016. Looks like this summer will blow that one out of the water.

I always believed (and probably still do) that this was a racial bias and vigilante crime that led to a killing (rather than a chase they intended/expected to end with a lynching).

That’s been my take on it too.

Break ins were happening, allegedly the security footage showed a black guy, they determined the first black guy they saw that day HAD to be the guy, so they chased him.

It wasn’t a “let’s kill the random black guy for no reason” thing, but still horribly rooted in racism.

Welp, he's fricked.

He was fricked the minute he grabbed his shotgun and chased Arbery.

The proof that he's a racist in just being exposed now.

The McMichaels are the gentlemen in Georgia who chased Ahmaud Arbery when they suspected he was trepassing on nearby property and attempted an illegal citizen's arrest. The confrontation ended up with Travis McMichael shooting him in the middle of the street with a shotgun.

Oh yeah.
I heard about it but didn’t catch the names.
I appreciate it.

Sounds like a heat of the moment thing. The courts will sort it out.

At a minimum, I always thought the McMichaels never would have been so aggressive with a white guy.

Dropping the n-word on Arbery's dead body...I probably underestimated the racism.

Also, they apparently found evidence that suggests they physically hit him with the truck at some point during the chase. Dial also reported that in his testimony.

I'll quote the portion as its from a CNN link.

quote:

The allegations came as Dial outlined the events that led to Arbery's death and told the court that before Arbery was shot, the three men charged in his murder engaged in an elaborate chase, hitting the 25-year-old jogger with a truck as he repeatedly tried to avoid them.

As Travis and his father Gregory McMichael attempted to head him off, Arbery turned and ran past the truck of Bryan, who filmed the killing, and Bryan struck Arbery with the side of his truck, Dial said.

quote:

Investigators found a swipe from a palm print on the rear door of Bryan's truck, cotton fibers near the truck bed that "we attribute to contact with Mr. Arbery" and a dent below the fibers, he said.

Yes. Thankfully, the # of people who have the capacity or hatred necessary to commit a heinous crime like the Byrd murder is extremely small these days. That's a blessing and it's progress, because it probably wasn't always like that.

But, I do think it's completely valid to go "there are racist/prejudice dudes out there who aren't cold blooded killers, but who think they've got the liberty to go around playing police or vigilante, and it puts black men at risk." And that's true.

It's not the biggest risk to black men, not even close, but it's still true. And I think if it was stated that way instead of "my son has a high chance of dying in a white neighborhood" - you get a much higher chance of constructive discussion/effort instead of instant polarization.

What ever happened to “sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me”?

People seem thin-skinned these days.

I'm not sure it's hearsay at all, and if it were, it's probably covered by an exception.

Okay. Up the charge to first degree murder and send both men away for the rest of their lives.

There is no 1st degree murder in Georgia. They are already charged with the highest "level" of homicide they can be in the state of Georgia.

Well, say goodbye to any hope of self defense.
