Damn that’s a lot of Big Macs and large fries being delivered straight to those Netflix and chillin’ customers on the weekend.
Lost in the market’s hysteria Tuesday on a rare earnings miss from McDonald’s, is the company’s surprise disclosure on the expected growth rate this year of its emerging delivery business. McDonald’s said its global delivery business — cutely known as McDelivery — will drive $4 billion in sales in 2019. At that mark, it would represent about 4% of McDonald’s global system wide sales.
“Delivery remains a big frontier for our business and we still have a long way to go even with our existing customers to encourage awareness and trial,” McDonald’s CEO Steve Easterbrook told analysts on a conference call.

Three years ago McDonald’s delivery business hauled in $1 billion in sales. And before that, McDonald’s was barely a player as its mobile app wasn’t up to snuff and delivery services such as GrubHub and Uber Eats were still emerging. Hence, the fast food pizza players such as Domino’s Pizza and Papa John’s continued to dominate the delivery game.
But McDonalds has since inked delivery deals with Uber Eats, Doordash and Grubhub in the U.S. while utilizing other outside parties abroad.
McDonald’s said its delivery service is now available at 23,000 restaurants in over 80 countries.
Not too shabby for the Golden Arches.

I can't imagine being so fricked up that ordering McDonald's delivery seemed like a good idea.

I mean if you have the options of getting whatever delivered, McDonalds is what you go with?
Maybe these are all 3 am deliveries

I've never used one of these delivery apps/services and never will. Are people really that fricking lazy to where they will pay a big markup just so they can have something delivered instead of spending a few extra minutes actually driving to and from the place.
I'd rather save the $5-$10 delivery fee and just go get it myself. Pizza is different since most places don't have a delivery charge.

once you have a pile of kids & a spouse & that full time dual income household = you will use food delivery more than you ever imagine. Add the grocery delivery + all the Amazon you can fathom. The time + $ savings of having everything delivered is flat out glorious.

Now fatties don’t even have to leave the couch to get their fatty food.
In 10 years we will knocking out walls to remove 700 lb behemoths out of their house because they sat in there eating delivered food for years paying with an EBT online that was direct deposited to their account

Ok....but for McDonald's?
I cant imagine how many times folks got cold food. Those fries are only good for 8 min under the heat lamp. They have about 7 min after coming out of the oil without heat before they're terrible.
Eta....you aren't getting your order in less than 10 min.

So you're telling me when they print "Delivery charge is not a tip for the driver" on the box, they're just lying?

I didn’t know they delivered. I eat there in a pinch but that’s some pretty bad food right there.
