my brother works for a company that maitains these machines. He advised me years ago never to eat ice cream from Mcdonalds. 90% of the reason they are always broke is due to they are not properly cleaned and the machines have to be overhauled multiple times a year.

Who has the responsibility of cleaning them? Employees?

I get that the McDonalds ice cream machine is never on because the workers are too lazy to clean it again but who the hell goes to McDonald’s for ice cream when there’s several fast food places that have much better ice cream?

The machines aren’t broken. They already cleaned them for the night and don’t want to have to clean them again. They tell you they’re broken because they think that’ll be better than telling you it’s off so they don’t have to clean it again

Fascinating article and yes, it's a racket to make money and McD's intentionally does nothing about it.

DQ isn't much better. Where I live...DQ actually informed us once - "We're out of ice cream, sir". I'm like, how does that happen.

Just last night...DQ tells us they are "out" of chocolate ice cream.

Chick-Fil-A has also quit serving "Large" milkshakes. They can't tell me why.

McDonald's corp to blame for their shady deal with the company that makes them.

fricks their franchise owners royally.

Same company makes Chick Fil A machines...and they never go down. It's nonsense. People need to stop buying ice cream from McDonald's to force the change.
