this must be a region al thing - I have never once in my life had this issue - granted I don't go to McDs very often and I even more rarely order ice cream.

This is one of the weirdest complaints lodged on this site.

There isnt anything rare about it

Its straight up part of their business philosphy

Around me 20% of all the McDonalds have a ice cream machine down

That means they are going to make thousands of dollars off the backs of franchise owners when they send a technician out to fix the machine in 2 seconds by typing in the right code

Seems like a dumb way of doing things. Ice cream and shakes have a huge profit margin.

It is until you recognize Mcdonald's is more a real estate company than a food company.

Then add the fact they have a sweetheart deal with Taylor that only allows franchisees to buy the C602 ice cream machine that is designed to produce huge revenue on repairs for Taylor. All the other fast food companies are able to buy a different machine that is effectively the same but doesn't have the secret fault menu that is designed to force the McDonald's franchisees to spend $400 or so everytime the machine throws a fault. McDonald's corporate actually wants it to stay the way it is.

It is most definitely not regional, it happens everywhere by design.

Poke around this website which shows real-time outages and you will see your hypothesis is wrong. You have just been lucky on your infrequent times you bought shakes or icecream.

DQ, or SONIC. McD's is for breakfast only for me, and that's far and in between visits.

On the rare occasions that I have stopped at an out of state McDonald's, I would say that maybe a handful of times have I been told the "shake machine broke". It's not exclusive to Louisiana, but it's way more prevalent here than other areas.

Perhaps there isn’t one where I’m am?
What a normal person do then?

That video is somewhat sensationalized and false. A large owner of many franchises in the south has his own staff of guys that are trained on Taylor equipment. he does all his stuff in house.

And no one cares to clean it. McDonalds employs the worst. None have stock in the company so why would it matter to them.

Only Commander Data can help you now.

He can use the gofundme to assist with the machines.

Apparently you haven't been to many Burger Kings, Taco Bells, or Popeyes.
