You think stealing this soda was a gateway crime, leading through fries and eventually ending up with a Big Mac? Me too.

This boy will now be run through the system and have to pay thousands in attorney's fees, court costs and fines. It will teach him to keep his hands off of other people's stuff. Not because it is such a big deal to steal a coke, but because the aftermath makes it not worth it.

Good for the manager. They probably don't have the most fulfilling job. Stopping some smug kids from punking them is a worthwhile cause IMO.

Have that little shite dress up like Grimace and have him outside twirling a sign in the summer. That'll learn 'em and I bet he sweats that soda out.

Good thing he wasn't on the playground watching a fight after school or some would be all over his arse.

Or, more likely, he's already on a bad path due to circumstances of his reality and will be surrounded with criminals now, whose influence will help him become a better thief.

Naw, ole boy probably has never stole anything at all before this. This is were a good kick to the arse and don't come back would suffice though. Problem is that these days ole boy will go get his gun because he's mad he got caught and received the kick in the arse.

A fast food soda (18 oz) that sells for $1.99 costs the restaurant about $0.16, a markup of more than 1250%. While I'm not advocating doing what this perpetrator did, I will say that every fountain drink you pay full price for is a huge ripoff. If you can't afford it, simply get water instead.

I work at an express meal establishment as well and I've wanted to do what this manager did for years. If I ever make it to a managerial role I plan on protecting my company's inventory from thieves

Give him the maximum sentence allowed by law. This kid needs to be incarcerated because this type of theft only leads to diabetes and we know what the cost of Diabetes is on society.

McDonalds has about 15 thousand locations so they each probably lose a few dollars daily. Totally worth it

As someone who has spent years in the food industry, this is the crux of the matter. It doesn't take long for a few thefts at each location turn into a very significant amount of money. I realize the manager was probably going overboard by chasing these hooligans, but you gotta draw a line in the sand somewhere

I can understand the manager's frustration and motivation. And I'd want an employee that is chasing down dimes for the company.

But usually you're telling these guys to keep it in the store and to not endanger themselves by chasing people out into the streets. If this guy was getting hit by a car he was pushing it too far.

Props for having the initiative though.
