McDonalds and ice cream machines

It’s mindboggling that the worlds oldest and largest fast food chain can’t keep ice cream machines running.
My wife took her special education class on a field trip to the state fair today and they decided to stop at McDonalds for ice cream on the way home. Knowing how finicky Mickey D’s ice cream machines are, they called the location to ask if it were working ahead of time. They said it was working fine so they got the kids there, unloaded all of these kids in wheel chairs from the bus and get them inside only to discover the machine is now broken.

They always work at Sonic. Not even worth trying at McDonald’s.

Does anyone have any idea whatsoever as to why this is a problem at pretty much every McDonalds?
There has to be the reason they are the only FF place that has this problem. Are the machines that shitty that all of them always break or something?

Buddy of mine work there in college. They have to be broken down and cleaned every night And it takes forever. The bonehead workers clean it and shut it down early so they don’t have to do it when they stop serving food

If they stopped at the McDonald's at Airline and Highland, that is the worst McDonald's ever. Very poorly run. The final straw in my divorce from the arches.

If all they wanted was ice cream, why the hell did they go to McDonalds?

I think this was really a teacher gripe thread disguised as a Mcdonalds culture problem thread.

Funny how they work outside of places in the south. Wonder why.

Here is an article (Nov 2017) in Business Insider that is claiming McDonald's said they are getting new machines with less parts so they are easier to clean (which they are supposed to do each day/night).
Business Insider Article
There is some nasty stuff that can grow in Ice Cream (and Daiquiri) machines if they are not cleaned. No excuse for them being down but if they are not clean then they should keep them off.

Who goes to McDonalds for ice cream anymore? Sonic has McFlurry’s and DQ has blizzards. Hell even most Racetrac’s have those self serve machines in there now.
Just saying when I think I want some ice cream, McDonalds is not near the top of my list.

Nah, I have to listen to the actual griping when I get home. It usually ends in me making a smartass comment and leads to make up sex. I ain’t mad

Kind of a pain in the arse to get a bunch of wheelchair bound kids out at Sonic and we don’t have a whole lot of DQ’s in the area.

This is 100% true. I live in Idaho now and I have never had to deal with a broken ice cream machine in McDonald’s up here. That’s some dirty south shite for sure
