Because Bodi was a terrible candidate...held my nose and voted for him. I think most, myself included, weren't thrilled with Broome but thought she'd tone down the rhetoric from the runoff and try for Kip 2.0. so I understand the Gissel endorsement at the time.

It's a demographic issue. EBRP is 49% white and 46% black. The black people that vote go 95% Democrat and I'd be willing to bet that at least 25-35% of the whites do too. Hard to win with those odds.

A terrible, rural candidate was within 4,000 votes in a parish with over 200,000 registered. All is not lost.

The last presidential election is proof people will jump parties over someone who embraces lawless behavior. Maybe we can see a repeat. Lord knows she's off to a bad start with the law and order crowd.

Baton Rouge's demographics are shitty for any good politicians to win over, though. Kip is probably the absolute best we can ever hope for in this city. Kip knew the city was run with white money and white businesses, and he had no problem with that. He also enjoyed the perks he got from not being a pain in their arse.
Broome represents a large majority of the city of Baton Rouge. She also represents why St. George is about to become a reality.

I approve of the way SWB has handled herself immediately after Silky Slim said his idiotic shite at the council meeting.
That being said, what he hell is he doing as a committee member/support personnel for any official. Her choice in advisors is horrendous, her plans to remake the police is idiotic, and her defense and support of COA is preposterous.
SWB has been a horrible mayor so far. I did it vote for her but I held out hope she could be first term Kip. My hope has proven to be completely invalidated and I can't wait until the next election. She cannot be ousted soon enough.

She did what she had to do glad she didn't beat around the bush and severed ties. Now she needs to start on repairing the relationship between her office and LEOs

Question. Is it legal for her to require her signature for those small contracts? Virginia has state laws regarding contracts being awarded. Because of the size of my business I can get awarded work in Virginia for smal contracts directly and without competitive bids.

No one more so than SWB. How many times does she have to refer to herself as "Mayor President" or "the leader of this city"? Would a true "leader" have to keep reminding everyone that she is the "leader"?

Pretty sure it's legal to be MORE stringent than state laws, but not legal to be less stringent. Requiring the mayor's signature on all contracts is more stringent, so should be legal.

Who issued the contract?
Who else gets these kind of deals?
Why $9800.00? Is it just below 10K to avoid review?
