If the heat gets bad on this very poor hire, this will likely become the mayor's out. This resume timeline, with all the degrees and jobs, is suspect.

That's a seriously shitty "out". You have 4 months to hire someone and you didn't properly vet the guy it took you so long to choose?

It's the same hypocrisy as the police chief bullshite. First, they advocate for all uniformed officers to be from EBRP while at the same time trying to hire a police chief from out of state who specializes in "community policing."

And the mayor that took Dee Dee's place is black and you haven't heard a word of criticism or infighting from the council since his election. So that destroys any argument that race played a role in Dee Dee's ouster

Just consider that if this hire has so many flaws in it, one can only imagine what her hire for police chief will look like & what it means to the city.

I bet my arse that she passed over many qualified whites.

She probably did, but we all knew from the beginning that her choice would be black.

shite that probably vaulted him into the group of finalists right there

Mayor Broome probably said, "Battery of a law enforcement officer?! Let me put my popcorn in the microwave and get the others in here first before you tell me what happened with this sh*t! If that's ok with you, Mr. CAO...if you don't mind me getting a little ahead of myself?!"

I don't know how that's possible. The majority of blacks in BR will support her no matter how bad things get. Hopefully, the Metro Council can keep her from completely running BR into the ground.

Maybe she didn't have the choices we assume she had? Meaning...what intelligent, white candidate with goals of furthering their own political career would want to jump into this dumpster fire? Maybe she didn't have much to choose from after all?

Here's where I'll disagree. There is no shortage of competent people who have relevant experience working in government leadership positions that could assume this role. She could have plucked someone from state government.

This was her chance to make a pick that could help build a coalition. Instead, she made a choice to solidify her identity obsessed flank. It doesn't appear to be a smart move, or one that suggests strength.

You can find many examples of competent, effective leaders in government. You might not like their politics or policies, but that's separate of their ability to lead and appoint quality people.

Question...would you work for her?

No, but her politics are different from mine. I would certainly have worked for Kip.

That said, I have not doubt you could find 100 competent people in this city who could do this position. The state agencies are full of assistants and deputies who work long hours and do real work. All BS aside about government, there are folks in it who are dedicated to it as a career.

Hell, look how well BREC is running. I'd take one of their managers before this guy. The bar is so low.

I'm certain that there are many qualified people right here in this town. What I am not certain of is if any of them would want to commit political suicide.

Ok there are probably some who would have taken the job but maybe she just threw in the towel after a few of the better candidates said "thanks, but I'm good right over here."?

I could be absolutely, 100% wrong. I just know that neither you nor I would have taken the job so I would assume there are many others that would pass as well.

Wasn't the incumbent CAO an option?

I'll hang up and listen.

His most important qualification is that he's black. She stated that she found him through the "National Forum for Black Public Administrators" for God's sake. Just like she has announced that she is looking for a new chief via the "National Association of Black Law Enforcement Officers."

He's not black, so he wasn't an option for her.
