Grizzlies are inland bears. Coastal bears are just referred to as Brown. However I’m pretty sure Kodiak’s are their own species.

They are all Grizzly bears.

They are all part of the brown bear species.

I saw a 800 pound grizzly bear at Turpentine Creek in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. This place is a rescue for big cats. That bear was on the smaller size and it was still much bigger than the big cats.

I loved how the smaller bear eventually just pulled the UFC move of lying on his back and playing defense

And the other bear used the MMA technique of leaning his weight down on the other bear.

Kodiak bears and Grizzly bears are the same (Ursus Arctos). Kodiak bears are just Grizzlies that are found on the islands of the Kodiak archipelago.

I know a bit about bears. Thanks

ETA….I saw my first grizzly when I was 13 in Ketchikan, AK. That was a long time ago.

While true, the difference between a brown bear and grizzly is that the grizzly has silver tips on their necks or shoulders which is clearly visible and the hump is more predominant.

I seriously doubt a grizzly could take in a brown bear. However those silver tips and hump look very intimidating to me.
