When has the United States not been involved in some sort of skirmish since her parents have been alive (both 50 this year) let alone active in Hollywood (1985 - present)?
When has there not been some plague or pandemic threatening the world in some fashion? It just happens to be fairly serious and within our country this time for her to be bothered by it.

This is why it's a good idea to have mandatory civil service. Spend a year or two in the military, digging wells, or paving roads and you lose your comfy seat in life for a little while and would learn the meaning of difficulty.

Actually, we have about 300 million years. The sun is getting hotter and will continue to do so, and it will eventually sterilize the planet. The sun will continue to go on, but life on Earth won't.
