Paid almost $300 for some Maui Jim sunglasses because I need polarized lenses. Haven’t had them a year … they fell off the top of my hat and landed on the table. 2ft drop max. Lens shattered. WTF. Warranty would allow me to buy new lenses for like $85. I feel like I’m done with overpaying for sunglasses if they can’t withstand a 2 ft fall. Anyone have any experience with Maui Jim customer service? Thx

Same thing happened to me. Long story short, I've never bought another pair of their product

Supposedly their customer service is top notch. Now, why would they shatter after a 2 foot drop, that’s a great question.

Hours of unbiased research and you’ll see that Maui Jim has a higher percentage of positive reviews than Costa.

Costa makes you pay $100 minimum if they have to replace the lens. I bought a pair of Shady Rays off an Instagram ad for $45 and I'm happy with them.

They get you by the balls on lenses, but did get my glasses back to me within a week

The lenses are freaking thin glass. I know that NOW. I don’t recommend buying glass lens sunglasses if you are active.

Maui Jims have always been awesome, as is their customer service. A two foot drop onto a table should not shatter lenses. That seems very odd.

As a counterpoint, I've probably had 5 pairs of MJ in the last decade, all have been dropped from shirt collar and head height onto pavement probably 50 times + each, and I've never had a crack. I did it yesterday in the driveway when putting my kid in the car.

Now, they all have scuffed frames and a couple have gotten road rash on lenses, but never a break

Yes on & off for the past 15 years. Sometimes they charge me $5 sometimes they charge me $85 but every time, I’ve been satisfied

I’ve had Maui Jim’s for years...never had them break or shatter...never had to test customer service yet. They are costly but they are the best.

Smith Optics or nothing. My dog chewed a pair of $200 sunglasses to pieces and they sent a new pair for $40.

They didn't with mine. Outside layer was peeling off of lenses, they sent me a totally free replacement pair.

Buys frameless glasses, mad they break when dropped.

I also get pissed when I drop my caseless iPhone and the glass shatters. Definitely not my fault!

When I moved a couple years back, I found 3 pairs of Maui Jims that I broke over the years and never sent in, just laziness. These were breaks that i caused, not deficiencies in product quality.

I finally said to myself "you know what, for ~$250 i'll get 3 pairs of quality sunglasses, sounds like a good deal".

When they got back in from Maui Jim a couple of weeks later, they included a note that said "thanks for choosing Maui Jim. You sent in during national sunglass repair week, so the repairs are on us free of charge."

Since that day I have stayed loyal to their brand.
