You're awfully mad given that you can solve this just by admitting you stepped on your dick.

It happens.

Desperately trying to salvage yourself just magnifies the stupidity

Manager kept $25
Each guest got $1 back ($3)
Bellhop kept $2

Total still comes out to $30

I always enjoy these threads because this kind of math discussion is fun to me.

But at the end of the day, it is sad thinking that people who have never thought of taking a Calculus class in their lives are in here arguing against what has been mathematically proven for what? Hundreds of years?

1/3 = exactly .333 repeating
1 = exactly .999 repeating

These are not opinions. These are proven mathematical facts. Educate yourselves.

I get that what I said is off-topic and more literal than the OP intended, but it's not wrong.

And $27 + $2 = $29 so, if the guests originally handed over $30, what happened to the remaining $1?
There is no reason to add $2 to $27. They have in fact now paid $27 TOTAL to both the hotel and the bellhop. His $2 came from that 27, 25 went to the hotel and 2 to him. Why would you add it again? The original 30 is down to $27 because you gave the 3 guests 1 dollar each. That $27 is up from the actual bill of $25 because the bellhop pocketed $2. That's all that has happened. There is no sum of 29

Someone puts a gun to your head and says you have to press one of two buttons. If you press 1 button, there’s a 100% chance that the person you love the most wont be killed. If you press the other button, there’s a 99.9 repeating% chance that the person you love the most won’t be killed. Which button are you pressing?

I’m not saying they aren’t, but which one would you press? The one labeled 100% or the one labeled 99.9 repeating %?

What is your point? Perception?

Who is in charge of deciding if I'm right to wrong?

It doesn't matter. Someone earlier told us that you just argue for what you think. That's apparently how math works.

If it's a person who decides, this thread has certainly taught me to not take any chances and choose the 100% chance.

If the actual math will decide, then it doesn't matter, I can choose either and have a 100% chance of being correct.

Yeah. True.

But, that's sort of cheating because it doesn't show one is better...…….it just shows that you have to account for stupid people.

I mean. If you had to push one of two buttons...……"Earth is round or Earth is flat"...…...there's a chance pushing the round button will get your family killed too.

But, again. That's just because the judge could be a moron.

I have the solution. If he changes the measurement of weight from pounds to Troy ounces then they started out with 145.8 Troy ounces and each person has exactly 48.6 Troy ounces. And since gold is measured in Troy ounces for sale then he knows he has. $73,098.774 worth the gold as of the prices today. Dumb arse nasa kid can’t find the practical answer to the question.
I didn’t read all 13 pages. To see if someone else came up with this answer.

I have bad news for you. 10 lbs is actually 145.83333 repeating troy ounces. I am not bullshitting you.

Three people check into a hotel room. The manager says the bill is $30, so each guest pays $10. Later the manager realizes the bill should only be $25. To rectify this, he gives the bellhop $5 to return to the guests. On the way to the room, the bellhop realizes that he cannot divide the money equally. As the guests didn't know the total of the revised bill, the bellhop decides to just give each guest $1 and keep $2 as a tip for himself. Each guest got $1 back, so now each guest only paid $9, bringing the total paid to $27. The bellhop has $2. And $27 + $2 = $29 so, if the guests originally handed over $30, what happened to the remaining $1?

I was going to post this exact thing earlier but didn't have time to do it. Thank you.
