another interesting anecdote is the "October 2016 mention" from teh sheriff that kinda set this whole thing off, that i do not see the news focusing on.
What is the October 2016 mention that the Sheriff said? Has anyone seen the NBC News article that says police are looking at footage of Paddock with an unidientified woman in the days before the shooting?

some event in 2016 set him off or he met someone traveling
It's possible that even without it being overtly political that the insane political powder keg our country has been for a year tweaked him out. The tone out there has gotten pretty extreme on all sides and has also gotten more extreme even in the center.
Or any number of possible things in his life (illness, a death, learned something about his family, lost money, and on and on and on). This of course could take a minute to piece together as you rule out extremist activities and put together the timeline to find the root cause.

After seeing the floor plan of the suite, on the last page or so, I'm guessing Paddock's escape route would have been the stairs. Had this security guard never shown up he could have fired off more rounds then sprinted down the stairs.

They're saying he targeted some fuel tanks. I wonder if he planted some tannerite on them?

Regardless, conversion to full auto is not a big challenge to someone willing to commit a felony in doing so.
There was a guy on CNN yesterday detailing how to do it. Something about shaving down a certain piece. Can’t remember the name of it.

Lack of arrests would hint towards it, yes. The girlfriend and brother are also saying they weren't privy to ill behavior
to plan something, alone and without telling anyone, for 11-12 months would be absolutely incredible.
i suppose it is possible, though
assuming he had assistance - was it a politically motivated? isis, russia? this is all very fascinating to me

Any idea if someone visited the room other than Paddock?
Just room service as far as I know. And all of the security footage they've found him on that I know about he was alone as well.

The mystery of it all and the psychology behind it is fascinating to me as well. I mean his family said he wasn’t political or religious or violent, but it didn’t sound like they saw each other often.

Shitty getaway play, don't you think? Nothing in that statement smelt of "playing dumb". She didn't even have to give a statement
If that was the plan, they probably thought she could melt back into Filipino society until the CIA and State dept called Dutarte

I don't think it's Muslim affiliated because we'd know by now, they like the credit and to be all "in your face". If assisted politically, it seems more sophisticated

Sheriff DID say that 200 shots were thrown down the hall and that it is amazing that the guard was not mortally wounded.
Then the guard wouldn't have given the police the universal keycard. Nor would he have stayed to help them check the other rooms. He would have used the injury as an excuse to leave. Instead, he had to be ordered by an officer to go receive medical attention.
The guy is a mother fricking hero.

The only way I can think of to escape would be to book the room below his (in a different name). Cut a hole to drop through under the bed maybe. Change appearance and make sure you get out before they realize shooters room is empty

Down stairs ain’t that difficult, even for a 64 year old. They said they have evidence that he planned an escape, but couldn’t reveal what that was, also interesting.
Maybe travel tickets, or a rented plane or passport?

Fox News just said he took shots at fuel trucks at the airport. Would bullets set off aviation fuel?

Or hit the staircase and blend in with everyone else evacuating the hotel
Stairwell was to the right of his door

Fuel. Air. Spark. Boom. I'd say it's possible for Avgas.
Prolly not for Jet A.
That is a WAG.
