ou say it right there. Mental illness is a common reason.
Newton, VT, UT clock tower, Aurora, these are all really high profile incidents and all are due to mental illness.
There are lots of people with mental illness in the world. The are not lots of mass shootings in the world in comparison to the amount of mentally ill people. For each of these mass murders, there was a trigger...a tipping point. The key to investigators is to find the trigger. What event or person(s) pushed this person to commit the crime?

TD glass expert said the glass at the MB wasn't tempered, and wasn't up to code because it broken in sheets

To not give his position away? It wouldn’t take long to find exactly where a guy was when you hear and see shattered glass falling from a window.

So you're denying that there is a legit ISIS cell in the Philippines? Was there ever an Al Qaeda cell in the Philippines?

This is what I am wondering. Where did this guy get money to start just buying shite in cash
People. This isn't complicated. Someone that worked for a number of years for a defense contractor and saved his money and was laid off during a downturn would receive a severance. During this time there was this thing called the Savings and Loan crisis going on where a number real estate ventures were abruptly halted or sold for pennies on the dollar.
Combined with inflation and the appreciation in most markets since the 80's...it isn't hard to amass a few million in real estate assets if you keep flipping them into another property, or leverage existing assets for another loan.

With mental illness involved, it could be something as simple as "my SO bought the wrong steak sauce". Or "why is it always red, the light is never green..those red lights have held me back from opportunity".

ISIS is as weak as they have ever been so they look for anything to take credit for to show they are still a threat.

These are essentially the questions that I have posted in a few different threads. What is so broken in our society that this is how folks choose to lash out in this fashion?
Lack of faith, shame, virtue? The desire for accumulation of wealth? Media or advertising? social media? The thrusting of machinery (smart phones, PCs, tablets etc) into our lives?...
Guns do NOT make these folks lash out...they make it easier but WHY are they lashing out?
Maybe I should take this to the Psyche Board...

These aren't liquid assets though. How are you heavily invested and still gambling hundreds of thousands of dollars and throwing money around to family and girlfriends?
You and I know people that have the type of money this guy does, and they don't live lavishly. It is just suspicious to me.

Well, I figured they would follow the muzzle flash and/or gunshots but I guess they could have followed the falling glass...

Well, it's obviously big enough to take over the entire town of Marawi.
Read your own article. A few dozen members of ISIS, who called in people from the Middle East, and who have now pretty much been destroyed - in one of the only predominantly Muslim towns in the entire country. That's peanuts compared to what you people have been trying to make it. By reading some of the posts, you'd think the Philippines was Pakistan or Syria.

Things that are so statistically rare are hard to predict or align with a certain issue/reason.

It's tiny. The odds of them having influence over a 64 year old white American man via his Filipino girlfriend have to be astronomical.

Not shocking, but the TD glass "expert" is wrong. This is very much tempered glass:

Meh, if they were actively seeking some pawn for years on the down low, it isn't nearly as astronomical.

Maybe he liquidated his assets and planned to go out with a bang when the money was all gone.

It's not like a 40 story glass building could hide a glass-code violation. Lol
