I think there are better arguments against gun bans than saying criminals will break the law anyway so it's pointless.
But it is pointless when it comes to "bans".
They can't use automatic weapons to mow down people like they did in the 1920's.
Great.
But... they can make modify a semi-automatic using stuff at Ace Hardware and viola... Automatic (almost).
Literally the only thing to prevent mass murders via guns is to ban guns.
Then we have to go after planes, trucks, pressure cookers, etc.
I don't have the answer to all of this. I won't pretend to. But I also won't pretend that by banning guns or their components is somehow going to magically prevent mass murder.
Yes, it's easier to mow down a crowd people from 32 stories up with a gun.
Then again, it's easy to rent a truck and drive it into a crowd.
No easy answers here.
At the end of the day, it comes down to the desensitization of people who whom you disagree with.
We saw that mentality of the people like the CBS lawyer. To think she's the only one is ludicrous. She thinks "Republicans" aren't human. So what happened is ok.
As long as people dehumanize their "enemies", we're going to have tragedies like this.
Just love your family hard and cherish them everyday. Never know when an a-hole will decide to get into a car after knocking back a few martini's and cross the yellow line or shoot at you from 32 stories up.

It would be nice to keep this thread about the Vegas tragedy and not a gun debate (not specifically calling you out, just speaking generally)

Well... That just means she's a backstabbing bitch. Doesn't mean ISIS.
Just remember that Philippines are ISIS hot bed and the $100K money transfer. She also traveled to Dubai recently. Not saying I'm sold, but the connection is slightly possible.

Fair enough, but I still know 0 people with them and if someone wants to make a bumpstock with a 3D printer then that sucks, but that doesn't change anything I've said. It's not about full blown prevention, which is impossible. It's mitigating risk the best you can.

Deal, I'll stop. But that is the new discussion on various forums and NPR since the photos leaked. And not really a gun debate. Don't lump me in with folks who want my guns.

Ditto. Some of my family is from there and visit quite often.
Never heard that.
Plus they have that "I don't give a frick" president, don't they?
Wouldn't he just beat the frick out of them?

No, but it adds to the story that she is travelling around the world on multiple possible identities, and in situations with the type of people that absolutely finance and influ3nce terrorism. Something stinks.

You don’t seem to realize that for every action there is an opposite but equal reaction. Policy doesn’t happen in a vacuum, if you change rules and regulations people don’t keep doing the things the same way they did before. The best example of this is U.S. tax policy.
You still never answered where you stand on the travel van and the border wall.

Sensible mitigation isn't an outright ban. This is my last post on the topic.

Did investigators say she has been traveling under multiple identities?

There have been a few hundred ISIS militants - small pockets in isolated areas - causing some disruptions, but the government has been putting them down. Almost 95% of the country is Christian.

Finding out a little more info...apparently security has located Paddock on camera at our property as recently as Saturday so it wasn't like he was holed up in his room all weekend planning. He also apparently used to stay here until 3 years ago when he got in a disagreement about a room he wanted that was unavailable and hasn't stayed here since. Trying to find out who he argued with in VIP.
