I 100% agree with this. He was just spraying into that crowd with a large spread and no real aim. And his rate of fire alerted everyone that something was wrong quicker as well.
If he had taken his time, and fired single shots, re aiming and steadying after each shot he could've killed hundreds rather easily in a matter of minutes rather than 58 over 10 minutes.
he was taking 300-400 yard shots into a mass of people. he would not have been hitting targets like you think he could have been doing.

There is a very good argument that lives were spared because of the faster rate of fire. There is a reason the Marine Corps moved away from full auto and burst fire and insisted on semi automatic, aimed fire for their marksmanship programs. Fully auto weapons are more for support and suppression for fire and movement, rather than just "mow down" a wave of people.
I don't agree with that. The military switched for a number of reasons but this event was nothing close to combat and is a bad comparison. A crowd of 20,000 people standing shoulder to shoulder is a perfect target for full-auto fire. Even if you are off target with rounds they are likely to find their mark as your entire target is a massive field filled with people. The automatic fire absolutely made this more devastating.

article said they haven't released what they found in his other home, I believe in Reno. I expect we will get more info in the coming days. Likely after they interrogate the girlfriend.
This event is so odd. Usually we know so much more about the shooter at this point. 36 hrs in and we still don't really have any info.

My dad lives a pretty charmed life. Knows a lot of people, works with some high profile folks for his job, etc. He is a ghost on the internet, in terms of photos, besides his profile on his company's website.
basically everyone I work with over the age of 55 is wealthy and impossible to find on the internet, outside of whitepages.com or something.
People are getting too hung up on this.

the guns were still firing in auto.
No, they weren't, the gun still fires with every pull of the trigger.

Shouldn't the gf be in custody by now? I mean, God damn, she was the closest person to him. How did they rule out she had anything to do with it within hours?

I think today/tomorrow we get a bit of profile but won't be shocked if it's relatively boring and not terribly extensive

What's the role you think she had, unless you propose she was his handler for a terror cell or something?

You think it has to do with a bigger story or just that this guy is a complete anomaly?

Yea, it's weird as frick. I am not all in on the conspiracy theories, but I'm definitely gonna need some motive.

Him carrying the supplies up to the room would be a good place to start.
10 suitcases were found in his room. It isn't that hard especially in a place like Vegas for people to come and go with large amounts of luggage.

indeed, and this isnt some instant gratification social media era whining... as some seem to believe.
its genuinely interesting that we know so little about this.

Well they did say his father had suicidal and psychopathic tendencies. I'd like to think something caused a psychotic break though if indeed he was just a psychopath.

Holy hell... y'all seen the pic of the shooter dead on the floor in the hotel room?

You can disagree with the comparison to military situation, but you cant argue with the reason the Marine Corps switched its marksmanship program.
And the shooter had to at least consider that as well, notice the rifle with the scoped optic. You don't fire those with bump fire or even sustained semi automatic fire.

I understand your thought process here, but he wasnt using a SAW with a bipod. An AR at hundreds of yards, with a bump fire, is going to have significant muzzle rise and end up spraying rounds all over the place. He did not have a bipod or any other stabilizing device other than a grip that doesnt offer nearly as much stability.

They should release the tapes showing him coming and going with luggage.
Hell, there is probably a camera which covers the door to his room.

agreed. i think the point is we just want to see him bring up the suitcases.
he reportedly did it with 10 different suitcases - from CNN last night

I can't even speculate, but unless she has been out of the country for the past few years, she has to have some information

I haven't gone through the motions of getting things removed from those annoying background check websites, but there isn't a single picture of me.
