The irony of this situation that has the left immediately calling for additional gun restrictions Is we are almost 60 hours past the initial report and there technically still is a mass murdered on the loose.

I’ll take a hundred bowling alleys shot up before I give up my guns. Ask the people of Israel if they’ll ever give up their guns.

What a poorly conceived post.

The point is you should be armed in this country and sheltering isn’t going to help you if you’re not armed.

Agreed. Look at the Israeli's that sheltered and had no weapons. They were sitting ducks for Hamas

Are you saying we should wait before getting to the bottom of how a crazy guy got to keep / get guns and ammo?

Lots of issues getting out to sea, several dams that while not large dams, would prolly be very difficult if not impossible to cross
Plus you would be limited to the river and traveling slower.

I am guessing he left a different car at the boat launch because it was a good out of the way location that no one would tow a vehicle from. Just odd they haven't figured out what the next vehicle was.

He probably planned to have a safe house close by to hole up. But given the slow police response may e he called an audible and drove as far away as possible.

A blind man can see what I said was the last people I want to protect me/ my family in an immediate time of chaos such as this is the law enforcement community.

The debate on how/ when/ where/ why can occur another day. The focus right now is to ensure other lives are not in peril due to this monster that is still unaccounted for. Existing laws on the books failed the victims Wednesday night.

We can do both. You and I aren't in a boat scouting rivers in Maine.

He didn't get away by boat if the boat was at the same boat launch has his car. There are two dams that he could not get passed. If you look at the launch I seriously doubt there were cameras.

That’s the problem with crazy. Often there are subtle signs but not enough to warrant intervention then it’s like a light switch and full on crazy happens. You can’t legislate away evil and crazy.

ETA: also too much power can be abused by those who deem others crazy

Damn. Sounds like most of the victims are adult males

There's 330 million of us. I bet if we tried real hard, we could do both at the same time.

Why wasn’t crazy guy in an institution and walking free when he was on everyone’s radar?

Follow up question: what if this dude isn’t found and people start leaving their homes while a “shelter in place” is active?

Correct.

Maine has a yellow flag law and recently added a 24hr a day statewide teledoc service to meet the law’s requirement of having a doctor’s diagnosis/opinion on the person cops & DA want judge to approve taking guns away for 1 year. There was an article from June I just read on how yellow flag requests had increased a lot due to becoming easier for cops to get person in front of a doctor once this statewide teledoc service started in October 2022.

No record has been found that this was ever attempted for this guy even after hearing voices, 2 weeks in a mental health facility, and a terrorist threat to attack a base which is usually a felony and would invoke criminal charges affecting ability to keep or have guns.

Maograth wants all guns to be seized by the government. Best to ignore the commie.
