This truly is sad, but other than the obvious you know what bothers me about when these things happen? The way the media pounces on the story and then there is conflicting stories. Then its all over social media, etc. I know that's the world we live in, but with something like this, I think their needs to be something that governs the media (and I am not one to support more governing).
This is a situation where the only people who need to know are people within that community. If any media organization other than the local media starts reporting it, they would be fined (if there was a governing body), because all of these news organizations profit off of this shite. If someone reports x amount was killed then another news organization reports a higher number that is generating traffic to these sites and tweets which eventually results into profits.
I actually think thats kind of sick. I can't imagine being a parent and having a kid there and then all of a sudden there is all this information coming in. One mins you see x amount, the next something else reports another number. Then I am sure it becomes complete chaos once all the parents show up which could in a different situation could end up causing more problems. I am sure most people will not agree, but before it starts becoming a national/international story, the dust needs to settle first and wait until the local police department holds a press conference.

I agree. Something should be done about that. Very hard to do now that they already exist. Not like you can confiscate. It's a problem now in both aspect of everyday murder in cities like those and mass shootings.

In what way should they be more strict?
And would your new stricter laws have stopped this tragedy?
Adopt the laws of the countries that have low mass shooting/homicide rates. I realize the US won't mirror their results, but it will lower what exists today.

If you let the local media handle it there still will be conflicting stories because shite's pretty crazy in the immediate aftermath when something like this happens. Not to mention, this is a small town that's kinda close to a very big city so they probably don't have much local media anyway.

You do realize a lot of those countries just decided one day to make a majority of their citizens criminals, OR have always had it where only certain people were allowed certain guns.
These same countries you want to mirror also have internet kills switches, less freedoms in general, and countries like the US to protect THEIR people because they cant do it themselves.
This issue isnt a gun issue, its a mental health issue.
We need to stop making these kids feel special because they are different or mentally insane and bring back institutionalizing.
Id be more for chemically castrating people who cant afford kids that keep having them before I would be for anymore gun laws.
Lets not also pretend that these same mentally unstable people wouldnt use knives or bombs or other methods. Just look at the UK and EU. Got a bunch of assault knife owners there.

It blows my mind how this same thing happens again and again, and it's the same response again and again from the crowd here. It's not about politics. Has nothing to do with politics. It's about common sense. Like how could one not see the correlation when compared to other countries data? That's just belligerence. Like Brian Kelly and Joe Sloan refusing to not run and start passing. They just couldn't make the change even though it wasn't working. The US may be more prone than other countries like Sweden to violence, but not nearly as much as these rates show. The medium between that is very accessible is the link between the two.
Obviously a small subset, because it's not the majority shooting others, can't control themselves as human beings, so something has to be done about it.

Why is it easier to get a gun inside a school and not inside a football stadium?
But again, which laws do you specifically want us to enact?

Demographics and culture have a more significant effect on this than gun laws.
You still have specified what laws you want enacted. Who in the US should be allowed to own a gun? What is the threshold?
