To be fair, Methodist is like dyslexic Catholic

Nothing at all was hostile about that response
OP - I personally find it important that whoever I end up with doesn't believe in any of that stuff, as I am not religious at all. But everyone is different. Two different denominations doesn't seem like a big deal.

I've been married for 25 years now, I'm an atheist and my wife is Catholic, in name only, she hasn't attended church since she was 16. We never let religion be an issue in our marriage.

Transubstantiation isn't zealotry; it's critical to Catholic faith.

If you are so serious about this, my advice is to set an appointment to speak with a preacher AND a priest. Any wise one will tell you that love, faith, and morality is most important.
Will this create issues, yes. Do you love her and want to spend your life with her? Are you willing to work through issues to be married to her? If your answer is no, then end the relationship. You will have more issues than this and if you don't want to go through the bad stuff with her then don't get married.

My cousin is catholic and her husband is protestant. The husband just goes to the catholic church now
That said, I appreciate the historical significance of the catholic church, but having sat through two catholic weddings, some of their traditions are bat shite crazy.

I also am hesitant to risk the possibility our kids would not get a fair shake in life if they end up being raised Catholic.
Care to explain? How to Catholic children not get a fair shake in life?

Jesus was neither Catholic or Protestant. He actually was pretty open about his hatred of organized religion.
Posted on 5/24/17 at 10:55 am to RFK
Totally depends on how important religion is to both of you.
If you're afraid of this, don't do it.

at the risk of starting a religious war, Catholics literally think Protestants wont go to heaven, so why would you expect Protestants to show Catholics any respect?
This is not true. Just a lie told by the ignorant.

No, they don't. Open up a book sometime and don't take that propaganda hook, line, and sinker.

Organized religion is a control mechanism over the weak minded sheep.
Case and point, letting it control your decision to be with the woman you love.
Weaksauce.
