I've worn heels in public exactly one time. A group of friends and I were heading to a bar after a rehearsal dinner a few years ago. One girl, who was a collegiate swimmer and is close to my size, was complaining about walking in her heels. I was sick of the whining, so I gave her my oxfords and wore her heels for four blocks to prove a point.
Didn't stumble or complain once. I grew up with three sisters, which probably helped.
