I'm not saying it's trashy... but it's not not trashy.

Im surprised you would collectively know 300 people well enough to consider inviting them to your wedding.

Not everyone invited to a wedding is a "friend" of the bride or groom.

We went to Vegas and had an Elvis impersonator marry us. A few close friends met up with us -- we're talking about 10 people or so.

you would be surprised how quickly it adds up

we were adamant to not invite more than 100 and it was hard as shite, we could have reached 250 easily

and neither me nor my wife have large families nor are we social butterflies

Actually, we had the whole thing booked (wedding wise) on the internet before we even got there. The whole thing was smooth going, the Wedding girl at the Tropicana had everything set up including an appointment at the courthouse, and all of our paperwork already submitted. Did not even have to wait in line at the courthouse just pick up the license.

Very nice. We did ours at Little White Chapel but it was on a whim. Lucky it was early evening and courthouse line was short.

We had @ 70-80 I think. Was still bigger than we wanted. We wanted to do a destination wedding with about 15-20 family and friends in the carribean. Caved to family pressure.
Wow. This is literally, verbatim my exact same story.

300 invites, somewhere between 175 and 200 attended.

The only thing I would have changed was getting a real band. Her dad is a musician and knows a lot of bands, so he picked a friend's band to play. They weren't bad, just not wedding style.

435 was my official count at the end of the night. 450 were invited. We were able to eat bc they walked us in through the back and we sat upstairs overlooking the guests while eating

First marriage: big wedding, reception, typical stressful Catholic affair. Marriage lasted 2.5 years. Second marrusge: My wife and I were married on a secluded beach with only her sister in attendance. We rented a bar and had a band for a big party afterwards. 11+years and still great.

Big weddings are a waste of money.

Less than 200 (reception miraculously turned into a +200 party) and it was probably too large for me, but not large enough for her.

First wedding I spent over $10,000 (in the early '90s) and it lasted a year. Second wedding I spent $2,500 and it lasted 19 years so far. Save your money.

We got married in between duty stations so we didn't really have a big window. We did a small, mostly family wedding in Gatlingburg. Maybe 30 total.
