I fixed that at Christmas once my kids were old enough to enjoy Christmas morning by staying home and we made our own holiday meal. Got tired of traveling. T’giving was split. Easter, sometimes split, sometimes I stayed home.

We rotate which side we get together with mine thanksgiving and hers Christmas this year, then reverse next year.
Sometimes we visit, sometimes we host. That is not a strict rotation and has been trending more toward hosting.

Thanksgiving - not big with her family so we go to mine if they plan something
Christmas Eve - her family, then midnight mass
Christmas Day - wake up with her family, open gifts, then go to mine for the rest of the day

my wife like my family more than hers, so it isn't an issue

We rotate, one year Thanksgiving with mine and Christmas Eve with hers and the nest year we swap.
Christmas day we invite whoever wants to come to our house over here.

Used to be Christmas Eve with mine and Christmas Day with my wife’s.
Now that they’re dead family gets together at my house (those that want to) usually a few days after Christmas, depending on what day Christmas falls on as my wife’s birthday is the 26th and we don’t have family do Christmas on that day.

Neither, we spend every holiday at home. We live five hours from them so we stay home and they can visit us after the holiday but not during

Both of our families wanted Thanksgiving. Her family is a drive and mine is a flight, so in years when LSU is home thanksgiving weekend we do her family and Christmas with mine and when LSU is away we do the opposite.

Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve with my in-laws. Christmas day with my family. Been that way for 18 years.

Mrs and I have spent the last several Thanksgiving and Christmas with our two kids. Either in Ohio at our house or we rent a house in NC or SC.
My parents are deceased and her parents live in south Texas. We haven't gotten together with her family for either in 5 years, this year will be the 6th.

Spend all at my families , since her side is a complete mess.
I’ve become keen on hosting thanksgiving , as it’s a pretty laid back holiday.
We have a pre Christmas party for the few family members she deals work usually the weekend before.
Go to my mom’s Christmas Eve for immediate family.
My grandma’s for Christmas Day with extended cousins, aunts, uncles, etc.
Usually spend some time in the afternoon on Christmas with her dad.
I know people always bitch about in laws, but I do sorta feel bad for my kids since they don’t do a whole lot for them(spending time, sleepovers, etc)
Always thought it would be cool to have to go out of town a few days to spend with family , as my family is all close. I’m sure it get old and/or a hassle with young kids, but mine are 20/14 now so would be easy

Thanksgiving has been spent with the in-laws mostly, not by preference.
Since we've had kids, my main rule is that we are home Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. If family wants to see us then, they have to come to us. This will likely change once they are grown, but Christmas morning is very special and I want to be in my own home for it with young kids.

My family is in LA. Hers in Utah. This year we are staying home. It's always such a huge pain in the arse to get the Christmas decorations up, then Christmas arrives and we are traveling from one place to another while the families from those areas never travel themselves, then get all the decorations down and repackaged and put away in storage before the HOA has a fricking stroke.

For Christmas we usually see each family the weekend before and/or Christmas Eve. We stay home on Christmas day and there is an open invitation for either side of family to come here and visit us if they want to.
For Thanksgiving we usually just split the day, half at each side. They only live 30 minutes apart.

We spend most holidays with my wife’s family as I only have my mom. She comes and hangs with them even before we get there. Works well as my wife’s family is awesome.

From day 1, we established that holidays are ours. We don’t go anywhere and no one comes here. Has worked like a champ.

I make them come to us. If we do go to them, my family one year, her family the next.
