Smoking THC would have helped my dear wife through her pain the last year of her life. But I just could not convince her to do it. I tried…

I think they legalized it to keep people high and happy or drowsy so that they can do as they wish with no care.

It is like everything else too much is usually bad for you. If you are smoking weed all day everyday I can't see how that would be good for you. Same as if you are going through a case a night or smoking a pack a day or eating way too much. Moderation is key.

Alcohol is significantly worse on you

“People know that daily alcohol use is bad for you”? Yeah, no they don’t and it doesn’t have to daily to do irreversible damage to your liver. Every person metabolizes alcohol differently and depending upon how your body does it will determine how quickly it impacts your liver. Some severe alcoholics can drink nonstop for 40 years, others die in their 30’s

It’s not even a discussion
A lot of the shite people die from aren’t specifically called alcohol deaths but the alcohol for sure pushed whatever it was to the brink.
These are facts people. It is poison.
Vodka is devil juice. The situations I’ve been in and seen people in because of this shite is incredible.
Any drug addict will admit they frick up the most when they are drinking alcohol.

Exactly. I like to take the edge of after a hard day. One hit off of my little bat does the trick. A half oz of weed will last me at least 6 months.

They don't think that maybe the people with these conditions are using weed as a relief for them instead of pharmaceuticals?
I.e. weed isnt the cause, it's the effect of these conditions.

The argument isn’t that weed is harmless although it is significantly less harmless than opioids or alcohol. My wife was given everything from morphine to hydromorphone which is significantly stronger to give her relief during her bone cancer treatments. The only thing that didn’t make her feel sick and nauseous was thc. That is the issue I have with most laws. It doesn’t have to be completely legal for everyone but they should make exceptions for actual medical care as opposed to extremely dangerous opioids for acute pain

I completely agree with you in theory.
The issue I have, and this is more of a political theory issue than anything, is that the libertarian mindset here clashes with the political activity/makeup of our country.
Yes, adults should have the right to make any and all decisions regarding their lives without external force, so long as their decisions do not infringe on others.
The problem we have is that, the way we currently function as a society, society itself, meaning all of us, has to carry the burden of poor decisions.
Once I no longer have to support the poor decision making of other individuals through taxation and governmental programs, I will fully agree with the idea that adults can make any and all decisions unimpeded.
Until then, frick that. If society is paying for an individuals medical care, disability, living expenses, etc., society should have a say in what you can and cannot do.
This is a pretty big tangent, so may be a topic for another thread.
This is the argument of a 12 year old.
