I loved Mardi Gras in HS and college, but now that I'm a bit older and my hangovers hurt worse, I don't enjoy it unless I have a solid uptown base camp within short walking distance to take comfortable shits, sleep late in the mornings, and have a fridge of food.
Gone are the days I binge for 5 days surviving on fast food and sleeping on floors in tiny apartments or hotel rooms.
But, if I have that base camp, Mardi Gras is the tits.

What part of it sucks? No one has to participate in the celebration, but it is a time when a lot of people throughout South La and people who come from out of state, who enjoy it a lot.
I think it's fun going down bourbon street the weekend before Fat Tuesday. If you go down bourbon during Bacchus or something, it isn't packed to the point it is hard to move.. And there is a lot of crazy shite that goes on..
Mardi Gras in New Orleans I think is something everyone should experience at least once in their life. Again, it isn't for everyone, but I don't see how it can be described as "sucks balls".
