Ok, so let’s say they get assault style weapons banned for sale. Now what?
They don’t think that will put an end to school shootings? What’s the comprehensive plan? What do they want beyond this?
I’m not trying to flame these kids and they are obviously passionate, but want to know what the end game is.

What's confusing?
Why does everything have to have a next step? Maybe the end-game is just getting those weapons banned.

They don’t have a a solution. The march and their “leaders” are far too divisive to make any real progress on the issue.
The march was a fully funded and organized Dem rally, nothing more. Same as the women’s march
ETA: the genius part of the current plan is using these kids then allows them to attack back at anyone who points out these facts because “how dare you question these kids!!1!!!” just as you did in your OP

Agreed. These marches have nothing to do about ending school shootings. Banning scary black rifles does nothing to improve school safety.

Those 4 statues came down...after other statues around the country...after a confederate flag was taken down outside a SC government building...after Confederate flags were banned on Amazon and Ebay....after Dukes of Hazard was taken off the air...after one crazy fricker who shot up a church had a Facebook pic with a confederate flag in the background.
And they are still fighting more confederate removals to this day around the country.

Why can’t we just give them California for their little Utopian world they want? Then we can get back to punishing the criminal instead of an object. Just continue The Wall straight up the California border. Problem solved!!
